Hi guys im new here, and desperate for some advice and guidance if possible. Right here goes, i have 7 defaults on my credit file which were placed there by International collections group in September 2005, when i contacetd call credit to find out who the company were, they investagated it and came back with the answer that, shop direct.com had sold on the debt to ICG. So i was wondering if there is anyway i can get them to remove the defaults?

Hi Jem and welcome to MSE :hello:
Have you checked your Experian and Equifax reports? To be honest, Call Credit is pretty pants and the only lender that checks them is HSBC. Are your 7 defaults on Experian or Equifax? I would strongly advise you check these first with the 30 day free trail offer. See what info they've got and then we can take it from there. Not all lenders report to the same Credit Reference Agencies so its important to check both.
Stick with MSE, it's been a real help to me0 -

Sammy_Girl wrote: »So out of interest, what's your story? Do you have adverse credit too? Have you managed to get any data removed from your files?
No, incorrect linked address which is affecting me big style - the person at wrong link shares my name! Just unlucky really.
So i've had to apply to each of the 50 odd accounts (lenders) that he had accounts with to get declined and hopefully get their attention so they wrote to me - this would allow me to sort things out. Experian is clear, call credit refused to issue my SAR so i've complained to ICO, Equifax are refusing to remove the link and i'm debating suing them and yes, i've had a few things removed such as defaults, £17k loan (unenforceability) to name a couple but bear in mind they weren't mine - but to prove a point and test what i'd learned I decided to fight for removal and it worked lol. Even if I lost i;d act dumb and say 'I did ask for a CCA to prove debt wasn't mine'.
Anyway - hope that helps explain things. I have 2 normal credit cards (citi gold and BOI gold) and Vanquis, plus Laredoute & JD Williams catalogues. So not much credit, just like fighting with lenders cos they are rip-off-merchants!
Personally, i'm not in debt, no.2010 - year of the troll

Thanks Sammy,
The 7 defaults ive got are recorded with call credit only, and not on my Equifax or Experian credit report, although when i obtained a more up to date report from all 3 agencies last night, ive also got a default recorded on my Equifax file from a communications supplier(not sure what this is but possibly o2).
I can deal with the one default, but 7 is hideous, i also cant find any contact details whatsoever for INTERNATIONAL COLLECTIONS GROUP who placed the 7 defaults on my file. Ive googled them and tried various sites but to no avail, so im guessing ill never get them removed!
Many thanks

The 7 defaults ive got are recorded with call credit only,
Thats fine, no-one really uses call credit that much and to be honest, they are the weakest of the 3 CRA's so don't worry about those monkeys. Main question here though is did you have 7 accounts with SDG or was it one catalogue that got 7 defaults? What i'm trying to establish is whether it is one default per debt (7 debts = 7 defaults)...and not on my Equifax or Experian credit report, although when i obtained a more up to date report from all 3 agencies last night, ive also got a default recorded on my Equifax file from a communications supplier(not sure what this is but possibly o2).
Ok, so it seems that the 7 defaults are only on Call Credit - if so then don't worry too much - see above. However, now you've mentioned O2 may have given you one, that's not great! Did you default with O2 and have they actually defaulted the account or sold it to a 3rd party DCA?I can deal with the one default, but 7 is hideous, i also cant find any contact details whatsoever for INTERNATIONAL COLLECTIONS GROUP who placed the 7 defaults on my file.
It all depends whether the 7 all stemmed from 1 debt or 7 different debts? Regards to the DCA, i'll come back to this in a moment......Ive googled them and tried various sites but to no avail, so im guessing ill never get them removed!
Right, defaults only last for 6yrs or from 6yrs since last payment (Statute Barred), however it all depends on several factors - if you can answer the qquestions above then great, i'll be able to help a bit.
Bottom line here is that you need to email Call Credit or use their online service and formally request full account details of the 'alleged' debt (make sure you always use the term 'alleged' debt) which must include the full name and address for contact, as the default is incorrect. They then have to by law, issue you the full postal address and account number of the company that placed the default. If they cannot send these details then call credit are in breach and must remove the data as they are publishing data from an unrecognised source which cannot be done (kinda like me trying to default you)....
Also, you mention O2 default, when was this registered and more to the point, when was the debt from (i.e. sounds recent and if so you may be able to get rid of it using account in dispute).....
Please be specific and update extra info as apposed to just giving us snippets - makes helping you easier all round.... :beer:2010 - year of the troll

Hmmmmmm, me thinks they're stalling. I didn't sign the first letters - I printed my name - so maybe thats why they're asking for proof of ID.
What do you think????
Thanks0 -

Hiya
Send this letter:
Dear Egg,
Ref: A/C No: XXXXXXXXXXX
Thank you for your letter dated XX/XX/XXXX the contents of which have been noted.
In your letter you make reference to requiring my signed authorisation and additional identification before you'll comply with my CCA request. I draw your attention to the fact that the Consumer Credit Act 1974 does not require that i supply you a copy of my signature before you comply with the request.
If it is for Data Protection purposes, to substantiate my identity to you then may I remind you that to date you have frequently, without question, sent statements and correspondence containing extensive sensitive & private information to my address. I have to ask if you are concerned that you are corresponding with the correct person why has it taken so long to raise this?
As you are aware, disclosing data without adequate checks of identity is contrary to the 7th principal of data protection, listed in schedule 1 of the Data protection Act 1998:7. Appropriate technical and organisational measures shall be taken against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal data.My request for a true copy of my credit agreement under sections 77/78 was made on XX/XX/XXXX and the 10 (+2) days for your compliance has now already clearly expired - I note that there is no provision that removes the requirements of the act to provide this information on time, even if you are unsure of my identity.
I look forward to receiving the documentation as originally requested.
Yours faithfully
