Talking of "out of dates", I'm in business turnaround and one of my jobs was on a muslim deli. They imported from the middle east and their packaging had their calendar dates on it. It was interesting to hear the comments of the local health and safety man from the counsel when he looked at food stuffs that appeared to be 600 years out of date.0

Defrosting your freezer is a money saving tactic. I understand they work far more efficiently when not clogged up with thick ice. Wonder if anyone has worked exactly how much more efficient?
By the way, if you have a steam cleaner, it makes it a much quicker job!0 -
I'll overlook the obvious joke about Deleted_User defrosting her freezer :-X

For any ex-breastfeeding mothers:
you might find the odd long-forgotten little bag of expressed milk, handy if you run out of your regular cow's one, and more healthy too!

Expressed milk loses its appeal for me once it is in the little bags.0 -
A real freezer tip is to buy a bargain new one. I bought a full-sized LG model, list price £349.99 in a Comet aution for only £111!
You can't quite be sure exactly what you'll get, as most items have been returned or have minor damage. In my case, though, my fridge had clearly not been used (ex-demo maybe) and was an absolute steal!
I know where I'll be buying my next cooker and washing machine from...

This is a great thread.
I have a brother and sister and we all have left home about 6 years now. My parent have 2 large chest freezer choc-a-block. I am sure some of it dates back to when I was at home. :-[
Not sure what my point is but if there was a food shortage I am sure they could last for years ;DThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
