Glad i submitted my meter readings two days ago. I will get the immediate price cuts , no silly guesstimates!!
PUT YOUR METER READINGS IN ASAP!!!
BTW , after BG last price cut my DD wasnt adjusted accordingly. Whats the chance of them snatching a full payment in June?0 -
I saw the BG chairman on tv this morning, and he was a grinning buffoon.
he proudly announced a "10% price drop", yet about 75 % of his customers have no idea whether it applies to them, and if so how much. nor do they know which BG tarriff is cheapest.
moreover, a 10 % reduction for 4.5m standard tariff customers !? every single one of them could be on a much cheaper BG tariff than standard-- why didnt he just move them all onto a cheaper BG tariff? cos he's a scumbag, imho.
and to further muddy things, BG then send a mass email which reads like it was translated from japanese by a pocket calculator :T
BG = fail

This is all sounding good news but I just joined BG on their Websaver2, but now that they have Websaver3, am I already missing out. Should I call BG and ask to move me to Websaver3? But i dunno if its cheaper.0

Yes, just re-launched energyhelpline and Websaver 3 is indeed cheaper than EDF Online by approx 25 quid on 4800 kwhs usage. Interesting. I wonder if EDF will respond? I have a feeling they might.
I am on a similar usage in Yorkshire and am in process of moving to SP for the Quidco cashback, but unless either EDF (who I have been with for a good while) or SP lower their prices then I may have to bite the bullet and dance with the BG devil!
(Shudder)
Before today EDF was at £442pa, and SP were on £445 (£40 cash from Quidco) and now BG are showing up as £414pa on a 4500Kwh usage for websaverNothing to see here :beer:0 -
Hi all
I have to keep an eye on the competitors tariff and deals going about. BG have dropped elec prices along with the gas although people are thinking of an immediate response from the competitors some companies have already dropped both gas and electricity. It yet has to been seen whether they will drop theirs again. Based on postal codes and supplier it really depends how much you use to really see what company benefits yourself.
As you may have guessed I work for BG so any questions I will try my hardest to help guys

What a load of this rubbish this really is, from the BBC article linked to in the original post.
Yes. Sudden economic rebound and surging demand for electricity, oil and gas expected real soon. :rolleyes:However, there are warnings the cuts could be temporary as the cost of wholesale electricity is expected to rise again next year.
"Prices for the period from winter 2010 onwards have either been stable or on the increase because of the expected economic recovery," said Dr Craig Lowrey, head of energy market research at the Energy Information Centre.
"Suppliers have been given some headroom to reduce retail prices in the short term," he said, but added there was a "distinct possibility" they would go up again in 18 months time.
Prices should fall to record lows, given the impact of the contraction in credit, and the economic fall-out we are experiencing.
The lower demand for electricity, oil and gas around the world from businesses and industry. With personal consumers finding it much tougher to afford their consumption, along with all their other bills.
Expected economic recovery...? Quite some time away imo.0 -
Just got an email from BG:
Dear Penrhyn
Our commitment to give you competitive prices means that our electricity price drop is bigger than any other major energy supplier’s. And as a Click Energy 6 customer your prices are now, on average, £682 less than our Standard tariff because of your Click discount.
P.S. We will automatically reduce your Direct Debit amount by 10% from your June payment.*
Have I missed something?
Aren't Click Energy 6 customer's only getting a 5% reduction? If so why are they reducing the DD by 10%? I suppose it's more money in my pocket but my account is already in debit and I do not want it to get worse!0 -

Phil Bentley
Penrhyn,
Can that be correct?
Someone in my area using 20,500/3,300kWh on Click6 would be £140 better off than BG Standard.
So to save £682 surely you would sure have to have an annual bill of several thousand pounds????
Incidentally for my area(Midlands) on those figures Websaver3 is marginally cheaper.
It is even cheaper if you 'mix and match' Websaver3 and Click6 I believe.
If Phil Bentley has got it wrong, perhaps you can ask him for the rest of the discount to make it up to £682;)
EDIT.
Thinking about it I suppose he means that is your cumulative savings over a few years!!!0 -
This IS Phil Bentley, of course. The bloke who predicted on 31/7/08 that we were entering 'an era of unprecendented high world energy prices'. I think he needs to give his crystal ball a polish....Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0
