Hi Peeps...
Dont buy online, decide on the specification of your PC then phone Dell and haggle.
I phoned in October 05 when I needed a new desktop PC. I spoke to a guy called Mustafa in a far flung call centre and haggled a £1110.00 PC down to £719.00.
Dont get too excited, part of the reason for that huge discount was that I chose not to have the 19" TFT Monitor, they knocked off £160 for that. (BTW, you cant select a "No Monitor" option online).
The other £230 discount was just politely haggled down.
The Dell 5150 machine I recieved is v. fast and almost silent;
3.2 Pentium4 HT
2 gigs Dual Channel RAM
256 PCI-Express ATi Graphics
XFi Creative Labs Sound Card (Amazing sound reproduction when linked to quality speakers)
160 gigs SATA Hard Drive
DVD ReWriter
Seperate CD ReWriter
Floppy Drive
Keyboard & Wireless Mouse (Crap)
2.1 Speakers (Also crap)
Windows XP-Pro
MS Works 7 & other software
2 year Next Business Day (NBD) Gaurantee... (again, this 2 year gaurantee isnt an option online, theres only a 3 year NBD which sells for £141.00 - I paid £23, YES... £23 for a 2 year NBD)
+ Free Delivery.
Since I bought in October the prices have dropped so you'll get a better bargain.
Next time your after a PC Dell may well be worth a phonecall.
Hope this helps,
Regards,

So did you pay £719 for the system without a monitor.?0

Amancalledchip...
Yes, I paid £719 for the Dell 5150 with the listed specs without a monitor (I bought a Viewsonic VP930 seperately from lowestonweb.com) . I know £719 seems alot, but it is a highly specced PC and like I said in my earlier post, I made this purchase over 6 months ago and prices have dropped since then.
The point Im making is that if you phone Dell & haggle, you will get another 10-25% or so off the retail price and be offered options that are not available online, like the 2 year NBD for £23.
