i had the pc in my basket this morning but decided against buying as i didnt really need it. Although thinking about it now i could have kept the 19"monitor and sold the base unit with my almost new 17" monitor.

Biglugs you can always try selling the 15" tft monitor on ebay for £80 but guess not really going to save much compared to what you can get for a base unit on ebay.

    ...what was the "lower" price?

Needn't have worried, lol. Just received an e-mail from Dell to say it was a misprice and they want another £104 on top to proceed with the order. Nice dream whilst it lasted - £313.75 incl VAT and delivery for the 5150 with 19"TFT and free wireless desktop thrown in!

Never mind. Until the next deal!

Xueta - did you not receive a PDF? Normally Dell will honour "misprices" if they have issued your PDF file.

    No PDF order confirmation :(

I received the Internet Order acknowledgement e-mail followed by an e-mail to call Dell. Phoned them in the morning, spoke to a nice lady called Shree who confirmed a few details and said no problem, the order will go through...

Got home and found another e-mail from Dell Customer Complaints dept:
    DELL wrote:
For a limited period on the 17th of March, an additional discount was incorrectly applied to the free monitor upgrade, appearing on our UK web site. The error was quickly identified and rectified by our Pricing and Online teams. We sincerely regret this error and apologise to you for any confusion.

During that time period, you attempted to place an order at the incorrect price. However, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions of sale which say that orders are only binding when confirmed by Dell in a written order confirmation, we will not be processing your order at that price, as you did not receive an order confirmation.

Does verbal agreement from a Dell employee constitute an order confirmation?

Technically yes, but hard to prove in court, your word against theirs

Sorry but I think Dell will argue that order confirmation is the PDF which is called an "Order Confirmation". Bad luck - need to be quicker and quicker to beat them these days!

Send Dell an e-mail confirming the telephone conversation, time, date, spec and agreed price, refer to your contemporaneous notes if necessary ....

No point in spending too much time/effort chasing Dell, just wait until the next Dell misprice comes along ;)
  • I ordered one of these too, with a few upgrades ...more ram, 13 in 1 card reader and a bigger harddisk.

I got the Internet Order acknowledgement email but not the PDF order confirmation.

What should I do now, sit tight and wait or phone them up and ask about the order

Your first email said that the second could take up to 72 hours.

It's not unknown for orders to be delivered without people even receiving a PDF. Have you tried to track your order at the Dell website, what did that say?
