What else do you make 160?
I ordered 5 sheets of the stuff and I think one would have been sufficient for the fridge poetry :-[When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt

Great reusable advent calender ideas, filling the pockets with cheap stuff can be a bind. My oldest used to moan every time she got a box of raisins :-/ I love the photo idea and the chocolate coins.
My sister-in-law has a little christmas teddy that they move from pocket to pocket, no gifts! ;D But she also has chocolate calenders running along side.
My friend posts us a chocolate calender every year and the postman always shoves it through the letter box and it gets crushed ??? I think I might tape a note to the door this year!0 -
I bought my first house this year, It is the first time that I ahve lived totally alone (I always shared at uni and when renting), therefore I have no Christmas decorations - and shop bought ones can so expensive.
My mum made ma a wall hanging advent calendar wth Christmas fabric and 24 pockets, filled with either a seetie or a tree decoration in each. I am so pleased with it :-* - as I can keep it forever (or as long as I want to anyway!) and re-use it. ;D
It's a great idea.
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!

thats so nice, and i bet you get attached to it and keep it for years and years, it'll become a tradition for you getting it out.
just filled mine with coins and bit of jigsaw in each pocket, one each day in threes so kids must take turns re the jigsaw.

When I was growing up, our Advent calendar was a Disney one, with Donald duck and his three nephews in a sawmill. The countdown element was a wood level which got higher and higher as you moved a wheel around behind the face of the calendar. I loved that one.0

For a calendars last year, I made a kind of tombola box, with a hole in the centre covered in Xmas paper. I put a sheet of paper (made up on computer) on the side with December dates on so these could be crossed out. I got a bag of miniature chocs (ie mars, lollies etc), wrapped each one in Xmas paper and put them in the box. I also put in about 5 'special' surprises, ie 50p or a bigger bar of chocolate.
After having the usual advent calendars my kids thought they were great as they are getting older now. I have saved the boxes and can just replace the sheet of paper with dates on.
;D Don't delay, do it today!0 -
Pondon Mill have offers galore on at the moment on all xmas stuff. Buy one get one free. They have fabric advent calenders with little pockets in - They were £8, now £4 and in the BOGOF offer therefore you get 2 for £4 BARGAIN. They also have loads and loads of other stuff, candles, cards, xmas wrap etc. I got mine from the Ashton Under Lyne branch.
