So why not complain to the watchdog? They cannot charge you for what your contact lets you access.

Doesnt the contract state "access numbers excluded?"

I used the number suggested. Orange allowed the call to that number from the standard minutes and then charged for the calling card number dialled using this facility.

If the second number appears on your Orange bill, it would be because you'd pressed the Send key after composing it, thus putting the first call on hold and dialling a second.

I said "contact", meaning the number you have dialled (legitimately) and got through to.
  • I've tried the number a few times now and a lady just keeps on saying key in number you want followed by hash key, well I did this and waited and waited but still havent got through, I have been charged a landline call for each of these tries, are you sure those companies aren't pulling a fast one?they know lots of people will use them, dont put them through but still get a pecentage of the money through people continually trying as I have done?

I got exactly the same thing today. Gave up in the end and went to a landline.
  • me too kai, I am going to go to a public landline as I dont have land line. perhaps information is outdated and havent been publicised yet?
  • This used to work fine. Tried several times today and cannot get connected.

Or you can use a new QXCall 0370 437 0800 and then 0800xxx# (no 0845 etc I am afraid) and the OFCOM UK numbering plan says number beginning with 03 has to come out of the bundle minutes..
  • Heads up - I used 01229330800 earlier this month, which I have been using for a while with no problems. T-mobile took the 44:10 minutes for that call out of my allowance, and then charged me £14.93 (excl VAT) for the 43:52 I was connected to an 0800 number. The connection times correspond as well, but I don't think I have a leg to stand on if I want to complain. At the very least I'd want my minutes back if I'm going to have to pay £17, but I don't think I'll get that if I complain.. to anyone...

LoveHeartz - Sorry to learn that you have been charged a lots of money. What most probably have happend was that you dial the 01223 number, then dial the 0800 AND then press the GREEN call button on your phone again.

What this cause the phone to do is to put the first call on hold, and then make another call to the same 0800 number via T Mobile network (very expensive).
So, you basically have 2 calls running at the same time, one to 01223 and another to 0800 !

You might even remember that you have had to press the hangup button twice to hangup both calls. This is a common mistake, but unfortunately an expensive one....

Now, as 0800 really don't cause T Mobile anything, if you are lucky, you might be able to persuade them to waive/reduce the charge ?
