Just had one of the oddest questions so far on a brief, did the staff member pass the phone or magazine to me with 1 or 2 hands? Why do they want to know this? Do you think it is some underlying psychological message that is meant to be conveyed or just checking my observational skills.
But for the record it was 2 hands, hope that was right and the poor girl doesn't get into trouble for it.
Its a psycological thing, handing someone something with both hands is seen to be more encouraging than if it was just handed with one hand.
And its in that particular phone shop's training that all team members have to do it with both hands0 -
when i used to do sales work a few years back we were taught to use two hands for things, makes item more appealing to customer. so i guess its the same principle and company is checking staff are following protocol.0

Yeah, I was amazed when I first saw that, that's the most ridiculous requirement I've ever seen from a client towards their staff I think. It certainly beats the requirement to "engage in conversation" when making you a coffee that a certain other client has!Dan

I think using 2 hands to hand something over looks/feels more polite, in Japan/China its very common for people to hand over business cards with 2 hands. Didn't know they were adopting it here, some how i don't think it will have the same effect as it has in China where people in shops are very polite. If staff are unhelpful/have an attitude, handing me a phone with 2 hands is hardly going to close the sale. And I think a lot of the staff will feel a bit silly.0

The one I hate is when you have to say what is the most positive aspect about your visit today! Ummmm, getting paid!
Opps, can I say that.0 -
Then, get home and get a call from GR. Another shopper went to the wrong branch of the bank, and therefore my assignment has now moved to the other bank branch, so I wasted my time this morning. But they did say that they would pay me extra for the wasted trip, so they are paying £45 plus whatever they class as payment for a "wasted trip", which is why I love working with GR!
Well got it all sorted.
Why cant people follow their briefs? Means that I have to go and re-do a shop that someone mucked up because they went to the wrong branch!
Wouldnt mind so much but it says in big bold red letters at the top of the branch that there are two branches in the town and to ensure you get the right one.
GR have swapped the 2 assignments over from the other shoppers account to mine, so I now have a different address listed for my shop, it means I have to start the process all over again.
But they are adding an extra £5 on to the fee to cover the first wasted visit, so not all bad.
BUT
LETS ALL READ OUR ASSIGNMENT BRIEFS BEFORE DOING THE SHOP PLEASE!0 -
The two hands thing is Asian. I lived in Cambodia for years and it was considered really rude to hand things over with one hand. It just won't have the same effect here though as it's not part of our culture.0
