But cash loss jobs are absolutely, completely pointless, if you're in the business to make money - which coupled with the fact that that client's pizza is pretty awful anyway, does not make for a great sounding job!

If you enjoy that pizza and are not in it to make money then great...

As others have said though - no one is forcing you to do the jobs. There will be people out there who are quite happy to take jobs like these because they'd have been buying the product anyway.

There are numerous food jobs I've been offered in the past or could have voluntarily taken had I wanted to. I declined them though as I simply wasn't keen on the restaurant and wouldn't really have provided an objective viewpoint on it, which is what a mystery shopper should do. :)

Just a bit of a heads up really. There has been a certain wave of jobs this weekend for Assosia which was marked as Private and Confidential. I recieved an e-mail this morning asking people to be extra careful as they had been made aware that some people had been discussing the jobs on open forums such as MoneySavingExpert. It was a polite enough e-mail but I think we need to make sure that we are extra careful when it comes to Assosia.

Did anyone actually mention that the jobs were for Assosia?

I hadn't seen any posts mentioning the company, but your post just did! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Exactly
I do the pizza delivery ones now and again as we get them occassionally. The only difference is now I never actually *pay* for them.

I certainly wouldn't build my MS-ing around them though. This week is far nicer I have a lovely mix of jobs including an accompanied shop (made nicer by the fact I have two other jobs in the same place that day with another company) a haircut, a 6 hour audit (hope it doesn't rain) with another MS in the same place for lunchtime and a job in a historic city that we're combining with a day out-makes the weeks of nothing but phone shops and banks worthwhile LOL

I agree. I take some food jobs just because it can be nice to go and eat out rather than cooking, but there are some places I will never do a mystery shop - and 1 chain I won't go to again as I did it as an MS job and the food was dire!

    Okay guys, advice really needed.

Just went to complete a phone shop job for Gfk. Entered the shop, and waited 10 minutes for someone to approach me and as all the staff were busy - no body did.

As per the instructions, I left the shop and returned 10 mins later, and waited again (feeling like a right idiot just stood in the shop looking at the same display over and over again).

After about 8 mins, a member of staff said that she'd be right with me, only to seat another customer down (who'd arrived just after me) instead a couple of mins later!

By this time, my car parking ticket was running out and I had to leave. Although, I was so furious that she'd seated someone else before me after she'd specically said she'd be with me in just a moment that if I'd have been a customer - I would have DEFINITLEY left.

Should I fill in my report as such, even though I didn't even get to speak to a consultant, or ask to reschedule? Or what?

Grrr I'm so annoyed! What a wasted trip.

I would call GFK and explain the situation. I'm pretty sure it says on the notes for that job that if that happens you are to call your rep.

I'd email Gfk and ask. I find them them very understanding when things don't go to plan.

i has a somewhat similaf expereince of going to a phone shop waiting and then coming back and not being served again

i called gfk and they paid me anyway without having to do the visit

so call them and see what they say

they may ask you to do the visit again if your agreeable and pay you twice for the failed visit and the subsquent visit anyway.

let us know what they say

Thanks everyone. I'm now back at work so have sent an email to them explaining what happened and hopefully they'll get back to me soon. Will definitley keep you all updated! I've said I'm happy to reschedule, but still wanted to know if I'd be paid for the time I spent trying to complete the assignment and whether I should still fill in the report.

It's my first assignment for Gfk - I'm gutted it didn't go to plan!
