Not wanting to be too specific here in case the company in question is reading...

I was doing a supermarket visit for TNS this evening, and in one section, the only MOS in the area were standing directly in front of the product I was supposed to ask the location of, chatting. I returned about five minutes later, and they were still there. Obviously it would be suspicious to ask the location of the product when they were stood in front of it, so I didn't. Should I tell TNS this, or should I just say there were no MOS in that department?
I find its always best to come clean, if they query your report you could be seen on CCTV and it would not be worth getting discredited for. For future reference though what I have done in the past is changed the item to something within the same area eg if you were meant to ask about shampoo I asked about hairspray.HTH
Couldn't think of anything witty to say so just keeping the space until I can :(

In this kind of situation I just act a bit more ditsy than usual and say that I can't believe I couldn't see it right there, helps that I'm blond though!

I do that sometimes when the item is nearby, but these MOS were literally standing in front of the items. You could see them between their heads. :P

    LOL
OK lets play spot the mystery shopper or deranged diner.
When I worked for Wetherspoons at the time both MS companies were so easy to spot it was ridiculous. One company had espresso as a purchase (only time it was EVER ordered) and the other used a creditcard so distinctive it was the only time we saw that card. Well DUH

Mind you knowing you're being MS'd can backfire. I once told a new manager we had a M Shooper in and she went to pieces-burned the meal (second attempt -dropped the first on the floor) and it took nearly an hour to serve up. I was SO embarassed at having to serve it. When the report came through she tried to blame ME !!! Nice woman

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hmmmmmm I wonder why this job is hanging about ?
Reimbursement does not cover cost to start with

And quite an unusual mix don't fancy an all day breakfast with a cocktail, nor a double vodka red bull with chicken, chorizo, red onion and pepper (yeah I know i'm a lighweight )

I had much the same situation last time I did that job. I said yes someone in department, where I had to give an answer I marked positively and explained what had happened in the notes question. I was paid, and it wasn't queried.

It's amazing how far you can get on a £3.50 all day ticket - I've done six jobs today - five on that one ticket!

I'm on incapacity benefit at the moment, so I guess that would probably become an issue - although I do know there's a certain amount you can earn before your benefit is affected.

I also qualify for a free bus pass, so that would obviously take care of the travelling.
You also need to bear in mind, when you say £80 per month, are you talking about £80 pure profit?

I would be looking at that for profit, yeah. But it wouldn't be the end of the world if i didn't hit that.

I think i'm going to take a few days to trawl the threads and see what I think, and if it's a go-er. I live about a 10 minute bus ride away from Lakeside in essex and about a 30 minute bus ride from Bluewater (providing I get the right bus!) so i'd say that's probably a good location.

In that case I'd probably say Mystery Shopping really isnt for you, and I would encourage you to give up here and now.

If the jobs are taken up regardless of no mileage fee, then I can't see TNS putting the mileage back ! Why should they if shoppers will do them anyway?

Even dumber blonde here made a fool of herself today. Had a job where I had to buy a coffee, now I don't drink coffee...it sends me even more doolaylee than I am normally. So anyway, looked at the menu and ordered the cheapest... an expresso..when it was served I thought blooming ek shes forgotten to add the rest of the water......yep and I then asked where to get the water from!:rotfl:Why do people buy expressos??????
