I use my local pawnbrokers to top up my prepaid mastercard and they are always lovely in there. One of my neighbours works for one and it's surprising just how qualified she needs to be with both finance and jewelery qualifications.

As for MS by public transport-I do it. At first it seemed a bit all over the place but now I've learned about how the companies work and am much better at linking jobs together it's very straightforward and I rarely end up doing silly journeys. I have all booked jobs on an on-line week at a view calender so when \I'm booking a job I can easilly see where I'm going and where a new job will slot into the plan (or not)

Would you report suspected food poisoning? I did a burger job on Wed evening, and the next morning woke up so ill. Lasted 12 hours, so better now just very shakey. The rest of the family is fine, and the only meal that I ate separately was the burger. Should I say something, because I really can't be bothered?

If you can't be bothered then why are you asking ?
Either it's important enough to you to mention to the MS company....or it isn't.
Not sure what you're asking really.
For me I'd mention it (regardless of if it was a MS or not ) as the consequences can be very serious to young children or people with health problems .

I'm the opposite - if it's an MSing company such as GAP, they simply won't care. Their job (as they see it) is to get the reports filled in and sent off - they don't seem worried about telling their clients the real issues most of the time.

IMO they'll either not believe you or won't do anything anyway. I'd not bother, one of those things...sh*t happens as they say...

I would consider taking issue with the store, separate from the MS. If the MS Co. was worried about longer effects/illness then they would want a follow up report after the 8 hr deadline they impose. As far as the MS is concerned - they have met their client's brief.

Careful also - I have raised issues (Not food quality but a H&S issue) and resulted in me not being allowed to return to that location for 12 months for a MS assignment.
Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

Did a couple of these Gap phones this week.. Of course there was no purchase but keep getting e-mails from Gap demanding receipt or no payment. Is there anything I should do. Don't want to lose fee.

They may want a busness card/brochure or something with the staff name on. If the staff member did not give you anything like this, just jpeg a doc that says "There was no purchase for this assignement therefore no receipt"

i'm going to attempt to trawl through a lot of these threads as i'm getting more intruiged by the possibility.

if i could trouble the regulars with two questions though that would help out a great deal :)

    1) is a car essential ? i'm not allowed to drive for medical reasons. which also makes going out in the evening nigh on impossible.

    2) would £80 a month be easily achievable ?

if it seems like something i could jump in to then i'm certainly up for it :)

I don't want to mention individual fees, but yes £80 per month is easily achievable. It does depend on how much time you can devote to it. I tend to find I get a busy week with one or two jobs every day, then a week with nothing, then a week with 2 or 3 jobs, and so on. It's great in that you can pretty much choose when you work. If you already have a job then that will restrict the MS jobs you can do - partly because you won't have as much time to actually do them, and partly because you won't be able to sit at your computer searching for jobs all day like some of us sad people do ;).

You also need to bear in mind, when you say £80 per month, are you talking about £80 pure profit? Look at the first post which gives details on how to keep your records. If, for example, the fee was £10, you would need to deduct your travel costs from that for tax purposes, so in fact you may only earn £7. You can't 'claim' travel as such (except with TNS as someone said earlier)... but you keep a record of what it cost you and that is offset against your tax liability.

Sorry, I think I'm rambling. Woke up with a bad head which is already starting to develop into a migraine so probably not making too much sense! Good luck with it anyway. You will find lots of help from the lovely people on here - I think of them as friends now - they have helped me out loads! :D

On a separate subject, hello again Ellie! Nice to see you back, and congrats on the good news at work. At least this way you can keep your options open, so I think it's great news. Good luck! :j
