Hiya I have not had anything like this and I definitely would not consider doing it. It would effect your credit rating - not sure how that shows if you are accepted for a loan which then does not happen.
Sorry to cut your quote but I wanted to post the email I got sent (with senstive stuff edited) Thanks for your reply!

Dear XXX,
An opportunity to take part in a well paid mystery shopping assessment.
This email is being sent to all of our mystery shoppers on our panel that have an active current account and are aged 25 to 59 years old.
Typically, around this time of year, many people want to take out a personal loan to better manage their finances, pay for home improvements or perhaps pay for a summer holiday.
MS SHOPPING COMPANY NAME HEREis looking for current account holders who would be willing to apply for a £5,000 personal loan with the bank where their main current account is held, go through a credit check, sign the loan agreement and allow £5,000 to be credited to their current account. Then we would work with the bank concerned to cancel the loan within 5 working days. There would be no charge to you or your account.
You would use your real personal and financial details, of course, and will not have to fabricate any information apart from wanting a loan and the reason for wanting the money (e.g. home improvements).
You would need to collect and send on any documents given and any follow-up marketing material given/sent to you. Of course, you could delete any personal/sensitive information.
This is an unusual request, I know, and I am asking if you meet the profile below and feel that you would possibly like to do this job, then you contact me with the following details:
[*] Your name and assessor number
[*]How much you would want to be paid to do this. As an indication, this job would be attractively paid and I am not expecting the fee to be less than £100.
[*]The bank where your main current account is held - i.e. salary paid in and direct debits/standing orders go out from it.
You do not need to reply if you cannot help me this time.
SHOPPER PROFILE NEEDED:
CONFIDENTIALITY
Note: MS SHOPPING COMPANY NAME HERE will not use your personal details for any reasons other than for analysing the financial advice that you were given. No identifying or sensitive details will be used in any reporting documents. However, the process of taking the loan and then immediately closing it is likely to be recorded on the information held by your bank and credit reference agencies. We abide by the MRS Code of Conduct for mystery shopping.

I need assessors who would be classified as 'prime'. This means that you closely fit the following:
[*]Must be between 25 and 59 years old
[*]In permanent employment, earning at least £12,000 per annum and working more than 16 hours per week
[*]Must have been at the same job for at least six months
[*]Reasonable level of existing credit - i.e. more than £2,000
[*]No history of credit arrears
[*]No County Court Judgments (CCJs)
[*]Feel that you would be offered a loan of £5,000 with your bank
[*]UK resident on the electoral roll
[*]Must have a National Insurance number
VERY IMPORTANT: This assessment will mean that you will be credit checked. If you are thinking of taking out a loan or credit card in the next 6 months, you may not want this to happen.
DO NOT SAY THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO TAKE PART IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE CREDIT CHECKED.
Details of your credit history are held by credit agencies e.g. Experian and Equifax. If you are interested in the data held on you, please contact them directly:
SORRY for the huge post!

also what im finding weird when rereading it as it means you can have a current account anywhere. so if your ages are ok - mine are for example - that means any of us with the company should be getting an email. ive not had one so would be interesting to know who else has.
plus im trying to understand who the client would be as it cant be an actual bank as it seems like your account can be anywhere .... i am intrigued now!0 -

I've just had an email from a (well known) MS company asking me to do a bank assignment but to take a loan out (5K) then they would arrange to have the loan cancelled.
It looked a very legit email and there was a large fee for this but I'm obviously cautious. Anyone had something similar? Not sure if I can name the company.
TIA

I had this email a few weeks back but did not do much about it as I won't apply for a loan I don't need  I can't even remember the ms company but it did seem legit to me, but I would definitely rin g them to clarify.Sealed pot Member target £200 - No. 151
