Hi all one of the worst Insruance companies to deal with no professionalism. And no customer service. I am not their customer but had to deal with them as one of their customer damaged my car it takes them ages to sort things out and no sympathy with the customer who suffered loss and damage. Must not use them....0

You need to make an "Official Complaint"
and also read this from the Ombudsman.
"16. salvage of the "written-off" vehicle and contents
what if the policyholder complains that the insurer (or its agent) disposed of the salvage before paying the full market-value? At this stage, the vehicle still belongs to the policyholder, and we take the view that the insurer should not have disposed of it without first obtaining the policyholder’s consent to the settlement of the claim – even if the insurer said it was only acting in the public interest by keeping a badly-damaged vehicle off the roads. In such circumstances, and unless the insurer returns the salvage, we usually award the policyholder compensation for inconvenience.
If the policyholder had personal belongings in the vehicle when the insurer disposed of it without consent, we are likely to award the cost of replacing these – usually on a like-for-like (rather than a new-for-old) basis."

I've had mixed fortunes with them. Changed car mid term and they took the DOC extension off my policy with the new car without mentioning that I would lose it by changing vehicle
Rang them and argued it and got it put back on.
Last year though I had a claim - a non fault accident which they dealt with and sent a cheque very promptly.
Gave me a good price for my car too.
I bought a new car and rang them yesterday morning to get the change of vehicle put through but apparently all their systems are down - it happens I suppose. Took out a day policy with the RAC to cover me meantime and rang them back today - systems still down.
Puts me in a difficult position as I can't afford to keep paying £20 a day to insure my car while they sort out their systems, but I can't just take out a policy elsewhere and cancel as 1st central will hit me with cancellation fees. Argh!0 -
Their website has been down for 2 days now. Very strange.0

Still down this morning. Day number 3... I'm going to have to take out a seperate policy elsewhere I think rather than keep waiting for them to sort their issues out and taking out day policies.
Bet I get landed with the £50 cancellation fee even though I'm between a rock and a hard place on this one. Argh!0 -
I have been trying to get a copy of my car insurance so that I can tax my car they told me it was going to be Tuesday afternoon, then Wednesday afternoon and it's STILL DOWN. I can't drive I can't get my kids to school This is absolutely unacceptable.Hi all
Just a warning really...
..please be aware that we've just been advised 1st central car insurance policies do not give drivers 3rd party cover on other cars even if they have fully comp policies and are over 25.
As far as I'm aware this is standard on most policies but we nearly got caught out when we called them back to double check the policy we'd just purchased. You can't pay extra fo it either!
Hope nobody gets caught out! We've just cancelled within the 14 day cooling off period - just hope they promptly refund the premium that we paid in full! Fingers crossed!

You can do it online with the renewal notice and a debit card.
You won't need to prove your insurance or mot, or at least I didn't!
I'm with 1st central and they emailed me my insurance documents within 20minutes of paying my premium. Could you find it in your emails? If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -

The problem sounds like the car needs taxing now - so waiting for it to turn up in the post isn't viable.0 -

I see. There is a grace period into the next month to get it sorted but assuming it needed renewing by the end of August I'd assume the OP is running out of that time too.
I shall move back to lurking! If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0
