Hi
I presume the other driver has admitted liability so it won't affect your NCD. The other insurer is just arguing hire car costs and I was told by the solicitor they are just trying to achieve a negotiated settlement.

Update, just been told today that the case has been resolved before it went to court.0 -
Hi I have been with 1st central for one year now, I had an accident - not my fault - back in April. My car is just being repaired now!!!! it has taken them all that time to sort it out and they still haven't managed to complete properly. They say they couldn't contact me, I have two phones, both with voicemail, an email, and of course a letter box, which if they bothered to send me anything in the form of a letter would have got to me within a couple of days!!!
I was quoted £150 excess, £150 voluntary excess - but now they want an extra £50!!! there is no documentation covering this extra money - but they say it was mentioned!!!! nope!!!
Trying to get hold of anyone to discuss anything is also a nightmare - most of them have the 'i can't be bothered' attitude, and those you do actually get to speak just pass you onto to someone who then asks "have you spoken to the previous department" you know the one who just passed me through to them.
My policy is now up for renewal, and it has increased by £120!!! even though it was protected noclaims.
I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!

Wendysqf your Insurance Policy Booklet and schedule are in effect a contract, for them to be able to enforce this extra excess, it has to be shown in the policy booklet and / or schedule. Ask them to point out to you were it is on your policy or schedule.0

this is just about to happen to me also. An accident in January is still ongoing and has been so pathetically handled that i've been served and am awaiting my day in court. Everythign we have done has been documented and we have reciepts for post etc, 1st Central even dispute the postage dates and reciept dates of documents we have sent even though we have proof of posting and delivery.
nothing with these people surprises me and to be honest i think we all need to club together and Watchdog their !!!!!!!!
I am just commencing with a similar experience having just received a letter from the third parties insurers 9 months after my accident. How and did you get this issue resolved with them?0 -
HI
I am insured by 1st central and have had nothing but stress. My car was set on fire and as if having to walk the kids to school in freezing temps wasnt bad enough i HAD TO DEAL WITH 1ST CENTRAL (NIGHTMARE), was promised the car would be recovered within 48hrs but 10 DAYS LATER and visits from the police and my local council it was still there!!! I also took out the hire car cover and guess what no hire car for me as it does not cover fire . So nearly ONE MONTH ON AND NOTHING NO CALLS EXCEPT THE ONES I HAVE MADE TO THEM AND NO OFFERS FROM THEM AT ALL REGARDING A PAYOUT SUM * HELP*!!!!!!!!0 -

HI,
I' new here, I passed my test on 08/02/10... As I was 20 I got my insurance from 1st Central as they were the cheapest... I had an accident in September 2010... It was a one car accident... They quickly collected my car and I was told it was a told lost... So I was asked to send in all my documents I did so and then about a month later of calls ect I found out that my car was sold off to another company... With my cd's still in as as when I had the accident I was so shaken I went to my boyfriends and he collected everything from the car apart from my cd visor on the mirror... So TWO months pass and I still haven't received my refund... And my car is gone as the company officially own it!! I had to make lost of calls to them before I was told "oh sorry blah blah blah is on holiday, I'm sooooo sorry it took so long I will post out your cheque" It took weeks before the cheque came... Now I'm being told my policy has been cancelled... As they have a call recorded with "me"... "I didn't cancel it"... I wasn't called to confirm this or got any emails... So now I've got a new new car with no cover... I'M SO ANGRY!! I've messaged Tom and gotten NO REPLY!!0 -
Your policy ended when your car was written off. This isn't unusual with insurers and not something just first central do.
So don't beat yourself up being angry - if you'd read read your policy you would have known this and not wasted time on Tom. (Don't waste any more waiting for his reply!)0 -
1st Central is truly the worst company I have ever dealt with, i wouldnt insure a push bike with them never mind a car.
I was unfortunate enough to have been hit by one of their insured, the police confirmed that he was at fault as he cut accross my lane to park on my side of the road and totally whiped out my car, highway code 101 no brainer him at fault me not at fault simple and clear cut.
This happened in October 2010 its now been 4 months and I have had to result to issuing court proceeding against 1st Central in order to get my payout, with 4 kids and no car for 4 month I have just about had enough of this company. The claims handlers are rude and dont have the faintest idea how to provide customer service, they constantly lie about having paperwork that they have been sent. for example i emailed them pictures of the accident and although you get an automated respnse when you email them confirming that they have received your email and I clearly put the claims reference number as the title of the email they carry on saying they havent got the email etc, this goes on for any correspondence you send them.
They keep giving me the run around, and although legally they have a time limit of 3 months to investigate a claim and pay out they still havent done anything and its a full month after their legal deadline has passed.
I am truly at my whits end with these bunch of crooks. If anyone has any suggestions on how I can get this company to process my claim anytime in the near future please let me know. I cant even complain to the financial service ombudsman as they are not my insurance company, this is truly ridiculous they should be shut down there are massess of complaints about them on another site too so im not the only one they treat like this.0 -
Cracked windscreen so emailed 1st as per their website. That was on the 12th. Three follow up emails since. Reply? No. Nothing. So they won't have me as a customer come renewal.0
