Conned out of £10 by Game( Chatham Branch)

Just look at it as a slightly more expensive way of learning to check your change!!
I don't always check my change, but if you buy something for less than £10, and pay with a £20 note, then you can expect at least a note and a few coins as change. I would then usually give a swift glance that the note was a £10 not a £5.
There's no proof to what happened. Are you SURE you gave them a £20?
Just check your change in future!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
This happened in my local game store, luckily I saw the person attempt to put my change in his pocket as I was about to leave, called the manager over and got it sorted, maybe its just Game staff?? xx2012 Wins - Danepak Fridge Magnet, £20 Just Eat Voucher, iTunes Song Download, Yellow Toaster and Kettle, Thorntons Bunny, 6 Months Gym Membership, £250 Multipower Products, 3 X Dalepak Vouchers, 10 minute sunbed session, Lucozade Sport, 2 X BMI Flights, Android Zeemote,0

Surely you would notice that you were given 1 x £2 coin and 1 x 50p piece in change when expecting a nice £10 note also.0

Seems like I am not the only one then! This is what happens when you employ chavs:p
Glad to hear you got your money back.0 -
Tills have overs and shorts..they can sometimes cancel each other out.It doesn't prove the staff have stolen the money, though it's possible. The only thing that would prove that was seeing the person do it.Be more careful next time.
Don't be ridiculous, you cannot prove fraud OR theft, and I daresay it could happen anyway, get over it.Do you really think the Manager and all the staff are sitting there now sharing out their ill gotten gains between them?(A whole £10).
It's probably libelous to say they conned you.
1.I have gotten over it just want to warn others, I do know it cannot be proven (unless cameras were pointing at the till)
2. I also worked in a shop and know for a fact that stealing from the till goes on (not by me :A) Anyone can open the till and take money out at any time, their till was also £5 down so perhaps someone has also been taking from the till, although it could have been a mistake possibly.0 -

I know that nothing can be proven but I still feel as though I have been fleeced.
I have never had any problems with this store before but perhaps with the credit crunch they are trying to up the takings a little bit!
Really don't see why you're blaming this on the store - there's nothing to say they're anything to do with your "missing" £10.
Personally, I'd put this down to one of two things:
1) You're wrong. You bought a coffee or a paper etc earlier in the day and had forgotten about it - that's where the £10 note you paid with came from.
2) The employee has stolen your change from you.
As the manager, I wouldn't like to say which one was more likely, so I wouldn't give you your money back just based on your word, if the tills balanced.
Finally, I don't understand how anyone can *not* check their change in the store. You hand over a 20 for something that costs you a fiver, you expect £15 back..do you really just stick your hand out then thrust whatever they pass you into your pocket without even looking at it?0 -
Of course they are to do with my missing £10 they are the ones who short-changed me!
1. Didn't go shopping anywhere else, it was early in the morning and this was the first shop I visited. Didn't go anywhere else afterwards.
2. Strong Possibility
3.I do not blame the manager, till would not show up anyway because wrong tender entered, so only my word against employees unfortunately.
4. Didn't just stick change in my pocket without looking (Doh) I was walking away from the store putting it away in my purse and only realised I was short after I knew I only had 3x £20 notes and no £10's. At first I thought like you that it was my mistake but the more I thought about it the more I realised that this was an impossibility due to my having no tenners.
I won't go on about it anymore, I'm not after my tenner back, its gone to a good cause, just wanted to warn people to be on guard if shopping there in case any more 'mistakes' happen.
No wonder people are buying online!0 -
You can't really warn everyone about one small shop,it's hardly fair, and you can't generalise about the whole company.0

Just a bit of useless trivia but GAME also owns Gamestation.0
