Sorry I'm going to be dim again here and ask if it was a loan you have? Sorry I have read through you're previous posts again and know it is!
Had you not ticked the box? Have you seen the agreement?
If it is a loan and it is non compliant (not completed correctly) then it is automatically upheld (where I work anyway) unless there has been an attempted/successfull claim on it in which case we have to review it as normal (because this shows the customer knew the insurance was there).
If you didn't tick the box then that is their mistake not yours and should have been picked up by them when the paperwork was returned to them.0

I will have to dig the original paperwork out tomorrow and have a look.0

How did you claim the first time? email or snail mail? I don't think it makes any difference. Did you use the template letters for reclaiming? You can refer to your letter and state that you are not satisfied with their response. I'm sure you can still try it and see where it leads. It won't do any harmChick2organise wrote: »so will i be able to start again claiming the ppi with a fresh claim? 0 0

Sorry I got really confused between Chick2organise adn JOSOM's posts there.
Ok, chick2organise, as they have already dealt with your complaint I would go to the ombudsman, they are unlikely to change their decision unless the ombudsman is involved.
JOSOM - was the box ticked for the PPI on your loan and have they refused your claim anyway. If so then again - go straight to the ombudsman.
I know this site says to send a second letter but it is rare for second letters to get a reply other than "we already investigated this- we are not changing our decision".
 Ombudsman is your best bet.0

I used the template from this site. I have been a huge fan for a while but only the normal side of the site then i discovered the forum and its opened up a whole new focus on finances!

Sorry for the confusion. No. First loan taken out in 2002 had PP1 which we queried because OH has insurance. Advised we should keep it as it would help with the application, blah blah. Subsequent loans were top up loans and no discussions were ever entered in to re; PPI. Just given the monthly amount and letter followed saying that one loan had been repaid in full and new one was set up. Never thought to check whether PPI was there to be honest because the monthly repayments were affordable. Will get on to it and thanks very much. Will get on to it and thanks very much. 0 0

Thank you. I will get onto it, what happens if i cant find my original copy of the letter? I know where i kept the one for welcome who i was successful with but i am not sure where the black horse one is...
with regards to cancelling the ppi should i continue with complaining before i cancel the ppi?
 Ombudsman is your best bet.
Does it matter if i can not find the original letter well copy of? I am not sure where i put it as i went through a bad bit with the letters. I have my original from the claim i put in for ppi from welcome finance who i was successful with?
should i cancel the ppi before i complain to the ombu. or wait until after??0

If the letter you sent to welcome finance was the same as the one you sent to black horse then I don't see the harm in recreating it.
I would cancel the PPI sooner rather than later in case you aren't successful with the ombudsman (fingers crossed this won't be the case) and you will get more money back cancelling it now than in a couple of months time. 0 0
