    It's payday and annual bonus day for me :j

    I have transferred my rent and bills money (£400) to the joint account, paid my Virgin card bill (£30) and paid off my Royal Bank visa card with my bonus which feels great :beer:

    Now I just need to buy some veg for dinner tonight so I guess I'll be spending about another £5

    I was doing so well, 6 no spends in the last week or so, and then...

    Today I had to fork out £87.24 on a vets bill _pale_ I wouldn't mind quite so much, (my gorgeous cat is normally worth every penny she's ever cost me) but this is going to be ongoing. Just under £60 of that was for a months worth of medication - which she will need for the rest of her life :(

    I am literally in tears, she is 15, and I love her dearly, but I simply cannot find an extra £60 each and every month for this, plus the however much for vets visits every few months to check how she is doing. She is thriving on the medication, and is more sprightly now than my 4 year old cats, so this could go on for years.

    Its sods law - my other cats are all insured, but I couldn't include her on the policy when I took it out, as she was too old. Used to joke that if any of them ended up seriously ill, it'd be her, just because I'd have to pay for it myself. Not so bloody funny now. :wall:

    No idea what I am going to do :(
    Highest Debt (Sept 04) -> £41,300 :(

    That's awful, I know how I would feel if this happened to my cat.

    The only thing I can suggest is explaining to the vet your situation and check that the cat is definitely on the cheapest medication - I think that, as with human medications, sometimes there are cheaper 'unbranded' medications? Or it's possible that the dose can be cut / treatment received less often? Too often we accept everything we're told by the vet without questioning it - but they are likely to give the highest possible treatment (at the greatest cost) and sometimes there can be a way of cutting the cost.

    Well, its going to be a cheap day today, just a few things.

    Have to get petrol but can claim that back on expenses so thats ok and may pop to pub for a few sodas.

    Was inspired by Juni yesterday, reading one of his past posts about not wasting time and talents and so spent last night glass painting some champagne glasses for a wedding gift.

    Very MSE and personal - just hope they like them!

    Many animal charities have hardship funds they can help you out with - contact RSPCA, Cats' Protection, local charities, and aks the question. Tell them you are considering having her put down because you cannot afford the medication. I'm sure you will find someone to pay it for you. And and ask your vet, too - none of these people want to see a healthy(ish) animal put down without good reason.

    :D Ooh I buy those!

    I find I can spend a lot in the fruit and veg dept if I don't watch myself quite closely, and it depends on if the fridge is bare and I need some of several things at once.

    I have all sort of imperatives clashing in my head though - organic tastes better, value may be just as good, should be seasonal, fancy something different, check the airmiles, have they got it loose, it's reduced etc etc :)

    There is one area where OH will not be budged as well - Birds Eye Petit Pois only :rotfl: - so he doesn't get them so often as all the other veggies.
