Disn't get to watch the telly as DD came home. She is now fed and watching a DVD. I'm feeling rather tired and sorry for myself, not sure why?????
Am going to pop to asda in the morning and get some more seagrass storage chests (£15 for 3 stacking ones with lids, have 2 sets in the LR and nicer (INMHO) than the plastic storage units that I use in DD's room) and sort out this dining room/ study.....I clean it every week and tidy the piles of carp and it's getting me down, I also plan on blitzing the kitchen as thats not looking too good now either....clean but not tidy!!!!!

tooch - I can highly recommend chucking stuff out as a solution to the clutter ;). Put DD to bed, have a glass of wine and a long bath. Sounds like you need some 'me time'.

... or you could come over and do my hand washing :D

froddy Im book fanatic too. I usually have 2 or 3 on the go. A thriller in the bedroom for light reading and the others downstairs on the coffee table.

Im interested in the book you are reading and the characters have learning disabilities. What is it called?

    See here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tasting-Wind-Allan-Mayer/dp/1849233802/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1241981160&sr=8-1

It's not always easy reading, but there is humour in it too and much of it rings a bell with me. The language is true to life too, so not one to read if easily offended ;)

I am with you on the hand washing toochoosey, mine goes into the bottom of the washing basket and never makes it out again. Usually stuff bought by other people - like teenagers who never read labels!

Toots - I would love a ride on lawn mower but with our mortgage? Never going to happen!

I have a few things that are handwash only - and while I still like them I do handwash them. I currently have 4 items in my handwash pile:
    1. a merino wool jumper. It's big and heavy, so would probably lose its shape even on a cold wool wash
    2. a woollen Shirin Guild jumper - I can't afford Shirin Guild, I was given it, so no way am I risking a machine wash :D
    3. a very long, very light green acrylic cardigan/wrap thingy... I think I could probably machine wash it if I put it in a net bag, but I love it, so am handwashing it
    4. a thick brown acrylic/wool mix cardigan - I think it would probably lose its shape if I machine washed it
However, the handwashing won't continue forever ;)

Am just having a few bits of steamed asparagus as a starter while I think about what I want to eat tonight...

I'm not going to get my my 5th star this week - I've been spending too much time out in the garden...:D Oh well, never mind, the bathroom is full of clean water and soap anyway, how dirty can it be??? I'll do it Tuesday...

My home garden is 40ft square at the back, and just about the width of the house by ten foot deep at the front. That's why I have an allotment that's 90 x 30 ft. The garden is fine, except for the lawn, because I'm not particularly interestd in lawn grass. The allotment is currently a mess, which is why I'm there as much as possible, and employing DS2 as well. Two of the gardens I worked in were about half an acre each, the third was smaller, but being developed, so lots to do. I quite miss the exercise, but not working in the freezing cold and rain in November and January...;)

I've just finished all the work for school this week, and have just to put pages in folders, and then pack my bag.

Hugs to Abby, dusty, toottifrootti, and very gently to pigpen.

Its not so much the washing that makes things loose their shape greenbee its the drying - you need to dry these things flat.

I have 2 cashmere things - both presents I must add and they are machine washed and have lasted for ages but I dry them flat so as not to stretch any of it
