If they are moving in with daughter then thats prob why they want a month between exchange and completion, to organise storage, and to try and limit the amount of time they need to spend there. I dont think thats unreasonable. Just get exchanged ASAP and at least then you know its yours, and can make plans etc.
In an ideal world if I decide to go in to rented I will need a month between exchange and completion, to find somewhere, as I am not paying a deposit before exchange as I know only too well it can all go wrong before this date.
Buying and selling unfortunetly is never stress free.
Fingers crossed for you.Pawpurrs x

Stolt,
I was thinking that by the time the purchase goes through, the house you're buying could be worth less as house prices are still set to drop further.
They must be mad to procrastinate when the housing market is still so dead in many places. Perhaps your solicitor could get their solicitor to have a little word and remind them that they could loose a buyer and have to start viewings again. Sounds to me as if they're a little odd. If I ever (please God) get a precious buyer I'd be out like a shot.0 -
I think it would be a good idea to let the vendor know that the constant delaying is making you unhappy, and request that a completion date is agreed and stuck to. Someone needs to talk to them and let them see that stalling isn't fair on you guys.
Dont bother with making up reasons, just stick to the facts - you've got trades lined up, had hoped to be in by a previously discussed date however will agree to now complete on a new date.
Me personally, I'd be tempted to ask if I can go and measure up for curtains or something and have a little chat with them whilst I'm there - communication is key here!
Good luck, we've just sold ours, so are about to go through the same, I think we'll get a completion date agreed between ourselves and our buyers as a target from the outset!0 -

hi yes i thought about setting a date when the surveys were being done and thats my fault, i just assumed everyone wanted to move quickly and wish (hindsight is wonderful) that i had mentioned earlier that the end of may was our target date.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
Hi stolt,
Just wondering what happened in the end?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Hi stolt,
Just wondering what happened in the end?
hi in the end the vendors did give in and we completed on the 28th as we wanted, the vendors werent happy at all. house was left in a okish condition certainly not how we leave but then i guess everyone is different.
it feels great, currently have the plasterers skimming the ceilings throughout and close some rooms/doorways. He should be ready by friday next week and we officially move in on the 16th!
kids love the garden and i bought a trampoline for them:D:D , There feels so much space.. cant quite believe how long we put up with this tiny rented bungalow.
thanks for asking though, i completely forgot about this thread....
alsthough what took the gloss of the completion day was my being involved in a car accident in the morning, just found out that its going to cost me £1000 to repair so probably best just to write the car off.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
