But she does, and you're obviously content to go along with her on thisone. Moving house is stressful, I'd try and let this go by the by ...presuming you have some where to stay during this extra time...?

If your OH loves it and your happy to please her then insist a date in June is set, preferable mid week if you think there could be timing issues with funds transfers, then get the exchange done so they can't back out and be happy in the knowledge of a confirmed date for the completion.

If your really fed up then take a load of house details home for you and OH to look through - never know you might sway her and then you tell the vendors to stick it for now.

buying and selling is stressful and if I think 3 months is a pretty normal time span, I know I took nearly 6 months but I was buying an empty wreck so I wasn't holding up anyones dream.

I agree that buying/selling houses is a very emotional/stressful thing and it can sometimes hit you in funny ways... :o

I had some personal grief when we were about to exchange on selling our house and the buyer piped in that he wanted our microwave too (not included in the details or in the "fixtures and fittings") before he would exchange. That REALLY annoyed me! Silly really (it was only a 5 year old, £150 microwave), BUT it was more the "messing about" and "demanding" that annoyed me... (that the actual microwave itself). Some people just have to push a little more... (since I was emotional anyway...)

It MIGHT be the same with you: step back and look at everything rationally. Do you HAVE to be in by the end of May? If not, will two weeks really make a huge difference? If it doesn't then (much more than "you have it in your head that you want to be in my end of May"), then go with the flow.

Keep your eye on the goal - the house that you are buying - and away from the little distractions...

Do you have a real issue with the house? Presumably you have had a survey done now, so would loose a reasonable amount of money if you pull out now (survey costs, solicitor's fees etc)... Don't pull out over something trivial (like the sellers being idiots). I always think that buyers shouldn't proceed with an offer and purchase unless they are 100% certain about the property... (too much messing around for everyone involved if they aren't and later pull out).

phone the agents and tell them you've instructed your solicitor to hold off on exchange as you've spotted another house that's just come on the market that you are going to look at. if that doesn't focus the vendors mind I don't know what will.

It's amazing how cavalier people can be when they have the gold dust of a buyer in the midst of the biggest property crash in history. Years ago, I've known of a seller demanding payment for a knackered old Rayburn, £200 for old carpets etc; buyer proceeded to pull out! It's one of the oldest rules of selling houses- don't allow something trivial worth a few quid to screw up your sale!

thankyou for all the responses, to be honest we have given notice on our rentla and the landlord would i hope be pretty good and let us stay an extra month. (he hasnt managed to let it again yet!) just spoke to the EA and he said the vendors are grating him because they have now suggested late June because they dont want to be rushed!! rushed they have had all this time and it seems only last week they have really acted on anything, but they were like this starting off taking ages to get the solicitors details to my solicitors so my solicitiors wouldnt do any searches until they had.

We were all set to move end of may because we have a plasterer booked and some builders and we were fitting into there timeframes to get the work completed before we moved in. Now thats out the window and the builder has said he was fitting us in between jobs and if we do move in june then he cant do anything until first week of August. Shame but they know we like the house and tbh i dont think they would actually care if we walked away. I think if we did it would cost us about £1500.00. ive asked the solicitor to put everything on hold, i sent my deposit to them 2 weeks ago so its been sitting in there account earning them interest rather than me!

Well if I were you I'd start viewing other properties as it sounds like the owners might never exchange.

If your LL will let you I'd ask to stay until August as that is the next time frame to suit you and your builder, but as the vendors don't do anything until they have to I would insist you exchange so they can't back out.

Personally I'd walk away, but it's easy to say when your not involved!

thanks, yes managed to get my missus interested in another house which we are going to view on saturday. I was going to try to book a holiday to get away for a bit and give the vendors some space but missus doesnt want to go.

I havent phoned the EA this morning, in some blind hope that he manages to persuade them to move end of this month.
