According to O2 the new iphone is a myth!

Clearly there will be a new Iphone this year as O2 wouldn't want people to just say "well I'm happy with my Iphone I'll just go to SIM only as soon as my contract runs out". O2/other providers want to lock people in for 18-24 months so that why I expect a slightly better Iphone soon. Even if it's iconic, Apple will keep refining it year on year to keep people investing in their phone.
Actually going to a sim-only contract is something o2 customer service heavily promote. For all o2 customers who are waiting to get a new iphone this would be the best thing to go for in the interim.0 -

And the 2G one wasn't!0 -
Well I could upgrade next week but I think I will just hang on until apple have their conference at the beginning of june. I think most people think there will be an annoucement then. My only hope is that if they do announce one I hope they don't put some massive price tag on it.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.
Terramundi weighs 8lb 5oz0 -
When I spoke to up-grades last Sunday the guy told me there was a new one coming out and o2 were just waiting for dates ?!
If there was one, upgrades would not be told till a few days before so whoever you spoke to was talking out of their bottom.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
The people who bought the 2G iPhone when it came out, paid around £329.99 or £379.99 for it, when the 3G one came out, those individulas were upgraded to the new 3G one. New customers paid £79.99 or whatever for the 3G one, so I cant see them upgrading all 3G customers to the 'new' iPhone when they didnt really pay the full cost of the handset like the 2G customers did.
The rumour mill for Apple iPhone is crazy, the thing is an employee in an O2 shop or call centre is not going to know, considering all employees at Apple have to sign NDA that they will not tell anyone about any developments, so unless Apple themselves say its not coming out, I would place your bets that it is0 -

But Apple's never going to say that aren't developing a new product! That would just send them down the shoot! Unless Apple announce that it IS happening, then I think you can guarantee than it won't be any time soon.
This is what's actually happening, as I said before in post#2:

We'd already heard that evidence of a new iPhone model was found buried in newer firmwares, but how about two new iPhone models -- along with a couple new iPod touches thrown in for good measure? It seems that a careful deconstruction of the beta 3.0 build provided to developers this week has uncovered the same product code "iPhone2,1" found before in addition to an even newer, awesomer "iPhone3,1." For the record, the iPhone 3G is identified as "iPhone1,2," so these alleged new models would be the first in the iPhone line to be blessed with major version number increments. Turning our attention to the iPod touch, the current model carries the "iPod2,1" designation, but models "iPod2,2" and "iPod3,1" have both been rooted out of the binary. June is widely speculated as the time that we'd be seeing new iPhone models -- right about the time that 3.0 is released to the general public -- so we don't have terribly long to wait to get this sorted outWe know that listening to any form of an Apple rumor — especially those that involve to the iPhone — is akin to an hour long session of water-boarding, but you’re just going to have to take this one on the chin for the sake of the team. It seems that the loveable lads over at DigiTimes have yet to have enough fun with their Apple rumor-mongering and are now reporting that Apple and OmniVision have both signed off on a contract which would have the latter produce 3.2 megapixel image sensors for the upcoming iPhone revamp. In addition to this, the same source is also reporting that a 5 megapixel image sensor is also included in the deal which is not iPhone bound but rather for a different product all together which is slated to launch much later this year, perhaps for that rumored touchscreen netbook or “the other” iPhone. We’ll see…
Here is a few quick 'rumors' that are floating round the internet, I had a quick look, ther was one by an AT&T Executive saying that it was going to be a regular release date 'July' for iPhone and some other stuff.
Now I am not saying that this is a guarantee that the iPhone will be out in July, but the iPhone 3G was all rumor mill, no concrete proof, only similar rumors to these ones posted.
Again, the iPhone 2G's got doscounted and eventually phased out in preparing for iPhone 3G - similar to what is happening across the world with carriers reducing price, giving it free, selling refurb, getting it on retentions0 -
new iPhone out 19th June.................0
