Feeling really knackered and down this morning, did'nt sleep well at all, ended up arguing with OH about money last night, he is generally really good and can see things logically, i tried to talk to him about starting to overpay on the mortgage and it just ended up him ranting on about not having a life and if we overpay what about holidays, nights out etc, tried to explain that we could still go on holiday we would just save a certain amount every month for holidays and any extra money could be paid off the mortage, just got nowhere and ended up saying forget it, that i will pay off what i can every month, but when he's 50 and still getting up at 5am to go to work don't whinge at me cos i will have done my bit, he started to back track a bit when i said this. God i'm sooooo mad:mad:.
Anyway have decided that I will save £1000 in MY ISA for MY emergencies etc and then will throw extra money at mortgage and if his car breaks down or whatever, sod him if he does'nt want to play ball then neither will i.
Done scratchcards and have 2 watchers on ebay, will have a look and see if i can find anything else to put on.
At work this morning, going to take some soup out of freezer to have for lunch, should be a no spend day today.
Have also left a note for milkman to say i don't need milk until Monday, found some in the freezer that i had bought from Tesco that had been whoopsed so will use that, will save me a couple of quid this month.0 -
oh no sorry to hear about the rows my OH just doesn't get it really too-was only really on board to appease me. You just carry on doing what you're doing hopefully he'll come round eventually!0

I'm sure he will come around eventually when he see's the mortgage coming down, just felt like i was banging my head against a brick wall, Guess i just feel a bit hurt and lonely that i have to do this on my own, at one point it was him telling me to save and now its the other way around, not gonna mention it for a bit and see how things go.0

Well hubby has seen the light, he came in from work yesterday and apolagised for being a grumpy sod:rolleyes:, i just said its ok, but i'm going to pay off at least £50 a month as that will save us at least £13000 in interest, to which i got are you sure, so i played on this and said i think so, but you know what my maths is like just check for me;). So put up the Egg overpayment calculator on the computer and left him, well next came a few BL***Y H**LS, I'M NOT PAYING THOSE ROBBING BLEEPS THAT MUST INTEREST. So we are know going to start overpaying as much as we can comfortable afford:D as we still want to go on holiday and have the odd day out. its amazing what can happen when they think it was their idea. I had rang the Abbey yesterday and we can overpay 10% of the balance which works out at £11000 over the year won't pay that much but anything is a start
Have done scratchcards for today, ebay has one bid of 99p.
So i guess i should start a I want to be mortgage free diary0 -

Thanks Tara and well done on the savings.
Having one of those days, got back from work to find a parcel i had been waiting for that was for me to test some chocolate had arrived just a shame the dog had got to it first:mad:, so cleaned the paper packaging that was all over the hall mutering to myself and the dog about how stupid it ia and that she can't have chocolate as it will make her ill, went into the dining room to find that she had been ill all over the floor:mad::eek:. thing is postman had put a note through the door to say i had two parcels to collect WHY DID'NT HE TAKE ALL THREE.
Just got back from collecting parcels to find cat on the doorstep which is great as he's been missing for 2 days, he is limping and not walking right, so now need to take him to the vet at 5.30.
Just waiting for the 3rd thing0 -

:mad:Oh it gets better, cat has an absess in foot so has had a painkilling injection and antibiotics, i've got a bill for £45:eek:, we were only in there 5 mins and then to top it all about half a mile from home not so DS decides to let the cat out of the basket, it jumped into the back footwell of the car weed in it:eek::eek: jumped back up into his basket and curled up, so i guess that was his way off getting back at me for 2 injections:rolleyes:.
so i've been out and scrubbed the back of the car luckily we had a towel on the back seat which ds chucked down so that soaked up most of it.0 -
