  • I've used auctuon sniper at http://www.esteal.com for past year; my purchases at eBay not happening so often, but I've won 5 items from all the 5 set up. They still have a free service (it seems paid will be introduced in the future, but nobody knows when), and the very common feature is a group bidding... I like their simple interface.
  • I've used Bid Bullet for some time and been very happy with it.

    It's a website based sniper which means you don't have to leave your computer on;
    They give free snipes for new accounts and you can also earn snipes for recommending friends;
    They only charge if you win, and even then it's a flat fee of a few pence.
    They are the only UK based one I could find - let's support them! :T

    Someone mentioned what would happen if 2 people snipe the same item using different snipers. I actually tried this some months ago and put Bid Bullet head to head with Auction Stealer - Bid Bullet actually won by a few seconds.

    http://www.bidbullet.co.uk if you fancy a try!

    Why do people need this service... apart from being away from the computer.

    I always put a bid in at about 1minute 20 to test if other people have placed a max bid offer. Once I am above that I just place a bid when there are 5 seconds left - but not a max bid...
  • I've made an attempt at collating the comments of this thread so far, and they are (in no particular order, but hopefully correct!):

    https://www.auctionstealer.com/home.cfm free for "basic" use, payment plan or one-off payments for "Priority Service" (other autionstealer.com links may be affiliate links?).
    https://www.bidnip.com 5 free trial snipes. Bought in packages thereafter
    https://www.auction-sentry.com Downloaded program. 10 day free trial. $14.95 to register
    https://www.auctionsagesoftware.com/bidsage/about.htm Downloaded program. Free. Doesn't seem to have an automatic snipe function.
    https://www.phantombidder.com/PhantomBidder/Default.asp Free for first two weeks. Thereafter monthly subscription or snipe credit purchases (at 50 cent/snipe).
    https://www.jbidwatcher.com Downloaded program. Free.
    https://www.esteal.com Currently 100% free (limited time offer, no details of when charging will begin).

    Hope it helps someone out :j

    Had a quick look at Just Snipe and it doesn't look particularly good IMO. It claims to bid, on average, approximately 8 seconds before the auction ends (in the free version). Most snipers bid less than 5 seconds before auction ends. May not sound like much but I can tell you from personal experience those few extra seconds can be the difference between winning and losing an auction. 8 seconds might beat a bidder sniping manually but with these sniping programs becoming so common you also have to beat other bidders programs. So if your program bids 8 seconds before the auction ends and a rival bidders program bids 3 seconds before the auction ends, your snipe will either fail or you'll end up paying more for the item because another bid will have got in after your first snipe that you'll have to beat.

    I don't follow this. If another sniper is presenting a snipe bid then it will be presented whether you snipe before or after that snipe. If the other snipe is higher than yours, it will win, if it is lower than yours, you will win. It makes no difference which was entered first. The only thing sniping does is to prevent someone from raising their bid after they see your bid. Since another snipper does not set his snipe based on what you bid, it doesn't matter which one is entered first except in one case. If you both snipe with the same bid, the earlier bid wins. Therefore the sniper who placed the bid 10 seconds before the close wins over the sniper who bids 5 seconds before the close if the bids are the same. So having the last snipe does not mean that you have the last laugh!

    I have used justsnipe for quite a while with no problems.

    Recently came across https://www.goofbay.co.uk which has excellent unlimited free snipes. Very simple to use and goofbay has some excellent free search facilities such as negative feedback etc. Well worth a look.

    I use BayGenie Pro, I set it to bid in the last 3 seconds. It costs $14.95 for life. They do a free version too but is of course not as feature packed as the Pro version.
  • I have used https://www.snip.pl for some years now. They are based in Poland but I've had no security worries.

    You get 5 free snipes when you register.

    Each successful snipe i.e. you WIN the auction, costs $0.19 (10p) thereafter

    You can pay by Paypal or CC

    The best bit is the snipe settings you can make e.g. you can change the settings of a snipe depndant on the outcome of an earlier auction.

    E.g. Imagine that you have seen 2 vases on Ebay in separate auctions and you want both or none. You would set it so that if you won the first you would bid more for the 2nd or if you lost the first you wouldn't bid at all on the 2nd.

    I've just blundered into this thread - useful or useful? I've just set up JustSnipe to go for a pair of ultra-light/compact binoculars that I've been promising myself for years on an auction that would end whilst I'm at work. I'll let you know how it goes.
    The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
  • Stop wasting your money and try Gixen (https://www.gixen.com). It's free, and is truly the best one out there.

    In addition, Gixen is the only one to offer fault-tolerance (double sniping) for only 6$ a year. You can't find better nor cheaper. I've been using it for three months now and will never go back to auctionsniper (service I used previously).
