INAPPROPRIATE speed kills. The true statistics associated with speed and injuries might not be what ANYONE thinks.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-407521/Only-20-road-accidents-caused-breaking-speed-limit.html0 -
This argument of statistics just goes in circles, gets daft and achieves nothing...Only one in every 20 road accidents is caused by the driver breaking the speed limit, the Government has admitted.
Thats 5% of accidents caused by speeders. So 95% of accidents caused by drivers obeying the Highway Code......... The Highway Code is the root causeof most accidents!!
I did a course, cost £70, lasted just over 2 hours, a bit of mouse clicking, a video and a question & answer session.
I did find it bewildering how many [STRIKE]Women[/STRIKE] drivers had no idea about speed limits in different areas.
I would take the course anyday over the points0 -

Hear Hear !!! Bravo that person ! Inappropriate speed kills. Michael Schumacher regularly does 200mph, he's not killed anyone yet ! Equally, outside my children's school, the limit is 30mph - I do 10 or 15mph, which is more than enough when you've got 6 year old kids attempting to cross the road. I'll always remember one particular time, I was on the motorway, it started to absolutely chuck it down, couldn't see more than 50 yards. Everyone slowed down to about 30, then some nutter came screaming past at about 60 or so. Perfectly legal, but there is no way he could have seen a thing. Compare that to someone doing 80mph ( or, day I say it, 90 mph ) on a clear, dry motorway with perfect visibility - who is the worst offender ?
To get back to the OP, if you've got the chance of a course it's usually worth it ( from a purely MSE point of view ). Means taking a day off work, and paying for the course. The price of the course is usually about the same as the fine, but you avoid the points.0 -

id do the course if it meant i wouldnt get any points on my licence0 -
can't believe anyone would take the points! If you get offered the course (I never have) I would consider it like winning the lottery! Even if the course was £1000 I would take it because you just don't know if next week they decide to put a sneaky camera van out of sight for a couple of days (which they do) and you sail by it 3 times on your route to work and get tickets your banned. That would cost me a hell of a lot more as I would be unemployed. I would always avoid points. Also as already mentioned insurers will make you declare & suffer for 5 years, that will cost a load as well.0

if its wawickshire it will probably the course at ansty just off junction 2 of the m6 and just pass the golf course, when you go you are given lessons on safe speeds told why and how they decide to put cameras up,but whatever you do don't argue with them even if your are right as they will ask you to leave and you will end up getting the points anywayHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I value my time - not sure as to whether I wish to be lectured to for up to 6 hours and have to pay for the priviledge !. Which ever way, as far as insurance goes its still a speeding convistion and has to be notified to your insurers whether you opt for the fine or the course.0

Ok, I'll bite - you show me where it says -anywhere at all- that you have to notify this to your insurer.
They tell you on the course that it's wiped and does not need to be declared - are you suggesting they are inciting an illegal act?0 -

And 95% of that 5% are motorcyclists
3 points or a course? I'll take 3 points thanks, it made 0 difference to my insurance policy and was declared. The CS rep said when I rang them "It doesn't matter sir"553780080 -
The first 3 don't matter, that's true. But get caught again and see what happens to your premium.
Do the course and get caught again, and you still only have 3 points, which don't matter.
Course everytime.0
