hope you have heard about your holiday today , if you need up to date information you could always have a look on the TripAdvisor website . Go to the Cancun forums , lots of holiday makers are posting on there and we have had more information from there than we have from Thomas Cook . Good luck .0

We have still not heard about our holiday yet and we go 2 weeks today.
To make matters worse now I have had to stop off work as got chest infection as well as my Asthma flaring up.
Went to docs yesterday and he wanted to give me letter to cancel holiday, as I'm going with GF and her daughter and BF, I said no as did not know how the insurance would pay out.
So now I have steriods, antibiotics and nebuliser 4 times a day for next 10 days.
Hope everything turns out ok.
Regards

We've been told we will be ok now, but that there may still be some delays in holidays at the end of May. Can only really know all is ok when you finally get there! Thanks for the trip advisor tip - Claire: hopefully see you somewhere in the Cat, as we are going the same time as you, best of luck!!0

Just an update on my situation.
I phoned Thomson yesterday (Thursday) to ask if i could change my holiday as it states on the website that I could for £50 each, now here is the catch.
I asked if I could change it to the day after as I noticed that there was a flight now on the Wed 3rd June and my holiday price had went down from £1004 that I paid for it to £702 now.
I thought that I would get turned down as it was only a day later than my original flight, to EXACTLY the same place, so I said I was under the doc and that he did not want me to go but even the extra day might help me.
To my surprise the lady went away, when she came back she said yes thats ok, i nearly dropped through the floor, as she said that they would put the refund for 4 people of £1074 back on my card.
Here is where I would like help, she was having problems with computers and asked if she could phone me back to let me know what was happening with refund. true to her word she did call me back, but she said that she had made a mistake, she had put £200 back on my Visa credit card and £1946 which I paid on my Visa Debit card.
As I should have only had the £1074 I would have to repay the £1072 back, to which I replied ok, then she said could I pay it now.
The money has not appeared on my account yet as she only just refunded it, so she was asking me to pay more money, that I have not got.
She is phoning back today to see if my pay went in and if I could pay it today, would I be in my rights to say that she will have to wait until it appears in my account as I dont want to leave myself with no money until it does???
P.S. Sorry for the long post
Regards

Hiya,
we have booked to go to cancun on 23rd november. I know this is 6 months away but am just wondering how hard cancun tourist industry will be hit by the swine flu. I really really want to go but I want to see cancun at its best...dont want to go to a ghost town where places have shut down, as that is what it is apparently like there at the moment. The hotel we are staying at is the Riu Caribe, which I think has actually closed for the time being and they are sending people to Riu Cancun instead. As the prices have now dropped by about 200-300 pound do you think we should try and get some discount off our holiday, or is it too late to get a better deal? we have only paid a low deposit and top up deposit so far.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I am probably worrying about nothing but this holiday is really important to me as it will prob be our last big holiday for a few years.0 -
Hiya babyboo, I guess by november the industry will be back on its feet.
The only reason that Thomsons are dropping prices of the ones so close is that they are trying to fill the places and as more places go nearer your date then the price will go up again.
You could however ask if you can cancel the holiday but you will have to pay the rest of the deposit which might actually make you have no savings what so ever.
I would say thought that its worth the cost of a phone call.

Hi
I am trying to get through to our holiday provider to see if we can do the same for our holiday. We are currently travelling on 23rd Nov and paying about 2300 but on their price has now dropped, and if we travel on the 30th Nov the price will be 1800. We are going to say we need to amend to the following week due to work reasons and play dumb about the price difference to see if we can get it at that price.
Has anyone else had any experience of doing this?0 -

Yeah i have looked into cancelling but we will lose the 400 deposit we have paid . So I checked the price for a week later than the date we are going and its 512 quid cheaper than what we are currently paying! I cant get through to First Choice on phone, it is just an automated mesage saying they are too busy to take calls. So I phoned my local First Choice store but because we booke donline they could only give general advice.I asked what they thought about us amending the booking to the following week and she said it will be about 35 quid each to amend and in the shop their policy is that we would get the holiday at the current rate but she is not sure how the internet team operates. I am pretty gutted now that I didnt book through the shop. I am going to try again this evening to get through to customer services and see what they can do...after all 512 quid difference in price is hell of a lot!0 -
just to let you know that I successfully changed my holiday to a week later than when i was due to go (cost 35.00 each to change) and saved 440.00...result!0
