5HTP is not a drug but a natural amino acid. it is the precurser to seratonin and helps level out your natural seratonin levels which affect mood. I have also read a bit about it assisting in supressing the craving for alcohol and carbohydrate.
I havent had it and dont know anyone who has. I just wondered if any of you knew of it. I saw it with the Kudzu and Milk Thistle in H and B then goggled it when i got home.0 -

Hi all- Annie I didn't mean to be slow/rude ignoring your question I really haven't heard of this before- its certainly never been mentioned to me, but I'm curious now and will have a mooch.
Funny digestive stuff generally has been mentioned, I used to get terrible trapped wind/constipation when I gave up, sometimes agony- not sure if it was dehydration, no alcohol, or what but it used to cause me real grief. Dear god, what are we doing to ourselves????
Fay- you make me laugh so much- I think someone should make a documentary on you??!!!
Good luck everyone0 -
Moi???? I am sitting here in pjs and a woolly hat - I can't imagine what on earth you mean Eslet having my own diary is bad enough!!!! Who on earth wants to see someone in pigtails covered in mud ranting about stuff.
I started a diary earlier this year when I wanted to really try and cut back to give me an alternative non-wine thing to do in the evening. To be honest it has really helped focus the money side - and on the plus side its kept me from opening a bottle on many an occassion as I don't really drink when near the laptop. Trying to recondition myself I guess?
Have posted pic of my posh wellies on there
Hope you find out more about the stuff Annie - hadn't heard of it either.
Sorry for all the nonsense tonight - I promise to behave nicely tomorrow.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Morning everybody
thanks for the post, Budgie, and pls put me down for another AFD yesterday. :T So that's 6 so far. :T
Will be playing tennis this morning, I've actually found Sat am tennis a great incentive not to drink wine on Friday night. This was a habit I'd had for years and years, but then found that I looked ridiculous with a hangover, and played even worse tennis than usual - which is pretty bad anyway.
Have a lovely day everybody - sunny here again, but probz throw it down later like yesterday.
Bi for nowTotal AFD's May-December 2009: 178 ie 73% of total days (245 days)

Blimey, just caught up with 3 pages and now forgot what I wanted to say!! Oh yeah...morning
PIR, have no idea if OH's colleague got his stuff back, I'll have to ask him later
40SM, the WiiFit is very clever, you stand on the board and it's all about the how you place the pressure on your feet and good posture, it is amazingly sensitive, plus it weighs you and gives you your exact BMI. If you've ever played brain training on the DS it's similar to that, everytime you go on the Wii it will tell you how long it's been since you last went on. You can work out how much weight you want to lose and over what period of time. There's loads of games like step games and balance games to do which are quite fun so you don't realise you are working your muscles, after each activity they are around 2 minutes long the minutes add up so you know how long you've been on it for.
With regard to the trumping debate...I always find that the opposite happens initially when stopping drinking, my digestive system goes to a stand still and I get the most painful trapped wind (in the past I was so doubled up that I had to ring NHS Direct ), but after the first 'motion' has happenedprobably after a couple of days it settles down. I've only quit drinking for over 30 days a couple of times but I've found that it's at 30 days where I've actually thought, 'I feel normal'. Got a way to go yet, but hopefully I'll get there
Forgotten now what everyone else has said. Hi to everyone else, seemed to be a good vibe on here last night so sounds as though everyone's doing well
Right, all in the name of the May Better Me Challenge, I am tackling the garden today, tackling would be the correct term too, it's a jungle and don't think it will be ready to do anything with this year if I'm doing it as I'll only be able to do little and often, but it shall be a work in progress (a little like myself). It will also help me get a bit fitter and spend some time outside rather than indoors thinking of drinking. Off to B&Q in a minute to get some strong garden bags and garden gloves and then going to chop some brambles!! Had the garden 17 years and never gardened in it before, usually pay a couple of burley lads to chop it down and take it away once a year
