What we are doing is hacking some back, then putting that black material stuff down to stop it coming back so abundantly... then we will start from scratch(ish)...... :) I found trying to sort it all out in one go a bit daunting, so tackling it in manageable chunks.....sounds like you could do with doing that too. good luck!

I had it cut down by some burley blokes that then covered it in black stuff and tarpauline, unfortunately the tarpauline is now 4ft high  I'm quite clever at growing plastic so it seems

Yes, a little at a time that's the key. Going to pot up loads of stuff for DS to tend to, then hopefully replant in the garden....'once' it's done. :) He wants a herb garden and veggies. I want a bee and butterfly garden.

I think that's the key, we need to keep ourselves busy!! It's not so great for those that have already got a nice garden that they have used to sit out in after a hard day with a glass of summat naughty, but for those, like me, that have never been able to sit in the garden, I have no association of alcohol and garden (except the burley gardeners last year that cleared it then sat in it drinking all my beer!!), so an alcohol free place it will be :j
