FREE Spanish wine on-tap with dinner was lovely and cheap Valdepenas from supermarket to drink in the apartment was great as well. BEWARE!

    Oh dear!!!
Were you planning a break from AF on holiday?

Yup!! But already planning this, and will try to be very sensible. I want to aim to go in the gym every morning :j so know I'll have to get up early for that, so will not want a hangover. Hoping having this goal will keep me sensible. AND I've got to be a good example to the 3 teenage DDs.
    .

FH - have a great hol in your caravan, I'm going to miss camping this year.

6 AFDs for me, please Jo. Where are you? You haven't told us about Madonna yet??

Miss P Its my nans birthday today too...maybe they are the same age!!...I won't be seeing her though as she lives in a nursing home down south, but my Mum is having her over today...

Mines 89 and still going strong! She has a few health problems but nothing too bad. Her and Piglet get along like a house on fire - its lovely to see! He's her only great-grandchild (apart from OH's two by previous marriage) so she spoils him rotten! I'll have to see if I can learn how to put photos on a message - I have a lovely one of the two of them together!

My granny is 104 years young! I know, crazy isn't it? She lived on her own with no help apart from family popping in and out until she was 99. If she knew you were coming, she would have cakes and a cup of tea waiting for you on her coffee table. All laid out with a tablecloth and everything :D

I get a bit tearful thinking about that now because we were very close. Spent most of my childhood with her, what with one thing and another. I used to phone her up if my parents were arguing (again) and she would say "come on up lassie" and off I would go. She would make me an ice-cream drink :D She doesn't really know me anymore. When she went into the old folks home to start with, I used to visit a lot. But then the kids came along and it became difficult. She started telling them to be quiet, shouting at them, which she would never, ever have done before. She's tired and really should go now. But there's nothing she can do about that
    Need to start again :o

Oh, foreverhopeful, have a dodgy :grouphug:.

I'm very close to my Nan, always have been. And we are all so grateful she is still so well and independent. During the holidays when I was little I used to stay with her a lot, especially after my Grandad died. Love her to bits. Theres something very special about a nan.

    (hugs))

My nan is 83 so a mere whipper snapper in comparison :rotfl:

She is a lot better in her old age..we all get on fine with her now, but tbh she wasn't much of a nan to us when we were kids - a very selfish lady actually....she now seems to actually care about us all though - think the medication she is on would have done her good when she was younger!!

Miss P & FH what lovely memories of you Nans, FH it must hurt to see yours now, but the main thing is you know the real her, she sounds like she was :A...

Ok now.....don't all drop down with shock.....I've just been to a pub and had.....................soda and lime!!

    And it was nice!

    And I enjoyed it!

Wish I could say the same for the meal. Not very good at all. Think my Dad would have complained but didn't want to make a scene on my Nans Birthday. She enjoyed her meal so thats all that matters today.
