ManagementA man flying in a hot air balloon realized he was lost. Reducing altitude, he spotted a man on the ground and descended to shouting range.
"Excuse me," he shouted. "Can you help me? I promised my friend I would meet him a half hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man below responded: "Yes. You are in a hot air balloon, hovering approximately 30 feet above this field. You are between 40 and 42 degrees North Latitude, and between 58 and 60 degrees West Longitude."
"You must be an engineer," responded the balloonist.
"I am," the man replied. "How did you know?"
"Well," said the balloonist, "everything you have told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I am still lost."
Whereupon the man on the ground responded, "You must be a manager."
"That I am" replied the balloonist, "but how did you know?"
"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are, or where you're going. You have made a promise which you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. The fact is you are in the exact same position you were before we met, but now it is somehow my fault."
Morning all! love the jokes! (I is a manager). Not about much cos having to work for a living this week, v busy.

Oh gosh, here goes
I've been reading....lurkingfor some time. You all seem very supportive and I would like to join you.
I'm married, a mum to two young children (4 & 2). My husband works away for weeks at a time, I work part-time, so things are hectic sometimes.
We've had quite a few money worries lately which was why I was on this site in the first place. But thankfully, things have taken a turn for the better, so we should actually be okay now (fingers crossed)! Although I still do plan to sell some things on Ebay and have a general de-clutter for extra cash to see me through the summer holidays.
Anyhow, to get to the point :rotfl:My Drinking!
I started drinking in my early 20's working in the hospitality trade. The drink was there and I drank alot. I got a degree, but nearly didn't due to drinking while on placement. I think the only reason my lecturers gave me another chance is because they knew my father had died the same year and felt a bit sorry for me.
My drinking slowed down somewhat when I started working. But the drinking was still there. I rarely had an evening without. DH and bought a house, got married and I got pregnant quite soon after. I didn't drink when pregnant.
After my first was born though, it was permission to start drinking again. I would often pop along to the shop and buy alcohol. Then DH would come home in the evening and we would share a bottle of wine. I went back to work and life got a bit more stressful. The half bottle turned into a bottle on my own.
Two years later we had another child. After he was born the drinking started where I left off but gradually I started drinking more and more. Sometimes having a drink at lunch time. Finishing a bottle of wine a day was normal. I then started buying boxes of wine so DH would have no idea how much I had consumed.
The drinking doesn't get any worse than this. Two boxes of wine a week probably. Somedays more than a bottle, somedays a little less. This went on for about 18 months.
But last month, when I thought we were in big financial trouble I realised I was wasting so much money on wine. Over £100 per month  I looked at my two children and thought OMG what am I doing? To myself and them
I've cut back. But haven't had an AF day yet. But instead of opening a bottle as soon as I get home at 5.30pm, I wait until the boys are in bed. I'm usually so tired by 9pm when I sit down after tidying up that I have one glass then go to bed.
But I really want to have days where I don't drink any wine at all. If I didn't have wine in the house, I wouldn't be able to go out and get it. But it's like a magnetic force that pulls me to the shop as I drive home. Ridiculous!
I can see that some of you are aiming for 30 days, so all month, and are already half way there. I can't imagine doing that, but small steps

:hello:Afternoon everybody...
Hope you are all having a good today...
Big welcome to ForeverHopeful, i'm a newbie on here too, they are a lovely crowd, come in and join the party....
I can relate to your post, and hope it makes you feel better to know that I was drinking a bottle of vino everynight for at least 3 years and I have with the strength of this thread and 'some' willpower reduced this to 2 nights out of 5.. personally by not having it in the house I don't seem to crave it in the same way. I've also found I've suddenly got a lot more energy/wake up feeling GOOD.. and saved lots and lots of pennies... I now fill my evenings on this site and doing all the chores/jobs that I should have been doing if I hadn't been staring into a glass...
On that note 40sm can you put me down for 12 AFD's for June... xAFD - J 19 J 11 A 2 S 10 Oct 6 N 0/?

Any policemen?
A police officer pulls over this guy who had been weaving in and out of the lanes. He goes up to the guy's window and says "Sir, I need you to blow into this breathalyzer tube."
The man says, "Sorry officer I can't do that. I am an asthmatic. If I do that I'll have a really bad asthma attack."
"Okay, fine. I need you to come down to the station to give a blood sample."
"I can't do that either. I am a hemophiliac. If I do that, I'll bleed to death."
"Well, then we need a urine sample."
"I'm sorry officer I can't do that either. I am also a diabetic. If I do that I'll get really low blood sugar." "Alright then I need you to come out here and walk this white line."
"I can't do that, officer."
"Why not?"
"Because I'm too drunk to do that."DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

Was feeling a bit down this morning (money worries...misjudged some money going in and DD's going out so have had to borrow off OH till payday...grrr!!). And my first though was that God did I fancy a bottle of wine tonight. Amazing! I'm broke and would still consider going and buying a bottle. Completely stark staring bonkers!! Soon realised how stupid I was being so moment is over now :rotfl:
Hope everyone is ok! Will catch up with everyone later!
