There was a man who worked for the Post Office whose job was to process all the mail that had illegible addresses.

One day, a letter came addressed in a shaky handwriting to God with no actual address. He thought he should open it to see what it was about. The letter read:

    Dear God,

I am an 83 year old widow, living on a very small pension.
Yesterday someone stole my purse. It had $100 in it, which was all the money I had until my next pension payment. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two of my friends over for dinner. Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with, have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope. Can you please help me?
    Sincerely, Edna

The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other workers. Each one dug into his or her wallet and came up with a few dollars.

By the time he made the rounds, he had collected $96, which they put into an envelope and sent to the woman. The rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow thinking of Edna and the dinner she would be able to share with her friends.

Christmas came and went. A few days later, another letter came from the same old lady to God. All the workers gathered around while the letter was opened.

    It read:
    Dear God,
How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your gift of love, I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift.
By the way, there was $4 missing. I think it might have been those bar stewards at the post office.
    Sincerely,
    Edna

    Morning All

Jo - sorry you are not feeling well ... hope you feel better soon.

Close shave for me last night. No not the hair again .... the beer.

I nearly gave in to the 'well why can't I enjoy a couple of beers on a weekend?' ..... Close call I must say.

Luckily managed to stay on the cherry cordial and fizzy water. The worse time was late afternoon, so had to immerse myself in destroying the computer and reloading my system. (This is what I do for fun ... sad hey :D) I'm a linux geek as I hate Microsoft windows. We have 5 in the house and not one has any sort of windows on it .

Anyway .... grey day here at the mo, hope the sun comes out otherwise I will be sitting playing on here and wasting the day again.

    Best Wishes
    Andy

Morning all! How are you doing, 40SM. I'm feeling for you and I guess we can all say we've been there. We drink because it makes us feel better but then it makes us feel sooooo much worse. It doesn't make any sense does it?! I hope you have a good day anyway. Keep smiling!

Well done DC. You're an inspiration. I'm feeling quite pleased with myself too as I managed to resist temptation last night so I've actually woken up in a state to do something positive about my problems rather than just worrying, achieving very little, feeling down and then having another little drink to cheer myself up. Let's hope this feeling holds until tonight!

Well, everybody, have a great day, be kind to yourselves!

I feel like carp today :( I thought I probably wouldn't go to work anyway today as I've still got the vertigo and the doc told me to come back today or tomorrow. But I've woken up with a bad stomach ache and nausea. This is even more upsetting considering I know it's not alcohol induced :(

    xx

Jo , Get well soon. Take it easy today . A nice duvet day is called for watching rubbish daytime TV. Hope you feel better soon. (((Hugs)))

I wish, booked an optician appt for 11.05am, it was the only one they've got till Wednesday so I've had to cancel the Doc till 5.10pm. Plus as I'm at home I refuse to pay out for the childminder, so dropped DS at school and got DD2 here at home with me, she goes to nursery at 1pm, might get DD1 to take her for me, although she's begging me to go....lucky it's only a couple of roads away!

I hope everyone is feeling better soon, must be something in the water

    Morning all!
Just been catching up....sorry there are some poorly people out there. I'm v tired but self-inflicted!

Bit of an odd weekend...went to stay with OH's sister & partner Sat night, cos she'd bought him a Ferrari drive at Silverstone which was booked for yesterday morning.

Don't know what OH was up to - I got to his house to leave at 3pm on Sat., he poured himself a glass of wine, drank half of it then declared he couldn't have any more as he was driving (it was his second one) so I had to finish it cos he wouldn't pour it down the sink (it was out of a box)...I said I didn't want it & he got really cross & was almost forcing me into it!! Dunno if it was some sort of test  cos when I was there for an hour on Friday I wouldn't have a drink (I was driving). I poured it down the sink when he wasn't looking.

Anyway OH & I thought it would be a quieter night than usual (these people DRINK, BIG TIME) cos of the Ferrari drive but no....... & cava was served with the bacon butties next morning......& then surprise surprise, the Ferrari drive was off due to a failed breathalyser.....how stupid is that. He was the only one tested & said he had no idea why but I reckon they must have smelled it on his breath.

In fact I was the only one not over the limit yesterday morning. See, I did try!

As an aside...I now think Kudzu does work...I'd bought some cava & white wine to take, but hadn't put it in the fridge for obvious reasons - too tempting for me! Meant to put it in Friday night but forgot, then forgot to take it with me on Sat! It was annoying to have to go back for it but I was quite pleased not to be as obsessed with it as usual.

Then yesterday I was just silly & had too much for no good reason. It wasn't a late night though, & must get back on the wagon today.

Sorry this is such a long post!
