Can't alcoholics cut down? Do they have to stop completely? I know i have to stop completely, i can't cut down. I just wondered.

The majority of the members of my local AA groups have been on the same sensible drinking course.

Hi everyone! So much to catch up on, just finished a 12 hour shift and didn't have a drink with the others after work so that makes 4 days AF.

Pamper day tomorrow to make me feel less grubby.

Thanks for more kind words and I have to say this sadness has lasted along time compared to normal had slapping head moments and shouted shut up to my thoughts a couple of times today. I think what makes it worse is that i don't know alot of what happened wednesday (except the really bad bit) and the only person who can tell me is avoiding me which makes "the fear" worse. Honestly i think i will pay a visit to my health visitor.

Well I have five great days at home with my little one ahead and although there is beer in the fridge i feel sick to look at it. I will have time to read all these great posts and reply for the rest of the week yay.

I have to say your all very inspirational, the fact that even those who have had a slip come on here and say so with intentions to start fresh is great.

I think the one thing i have to keep telling myself is it's not me it's the drink. I truly don't feel the dangers of this stuff were ever illustrated to me fully. Don't get me wrong my sister went out and got really drunk last night she was herself but laughed alot more and danced silly everyone loved her and her hangover was gone by 3pm. But alcohol will never have that effect on me i'll always become a mess and feel depressed afterwards so why waste the cash ay!

    Night night all x x x

Nice little quote i found tonight:

    The chief beauty about time
is that you cannot waste it in advance.
The next year, the next day, the next hour
    are lying ready for you,
    as perfect, as unspoiled,
as if you had never wasted or misapplied
a single moment in all your life.
You can turn over a new leaf every hour
    if you choose.

Morning all (why have all my smilies disappeared from beside the message writing bit?)

OOOER - and the bit that makes it bold?

I'll shout then - BUDGIE, PLEASE PUT ME DOWN FOR AN AF DAY YESTERDAY.

Will catch up with all the posts later, but am off to walk the springers...

Hope you are all doing OK

    Morning all

BB - please can you put me down another AFD for yesterday (4 in total).

Got that awful back to work feeling. Its not so much the going to work I dread but the getting the kids ready for school routine that I dread. I can get mighty stressed in the morning as it usually involves at least one lost shoe , a remembered costume that I was supposed to have created for this aftenoon's play ( son just remembers as we are going out the door) , or " mum I'm not feeling well can we have a sneaky day off ?".

Still I am going out for a curry after work with a couple of old workmates ( they are not old I just don't work with them anymore :rotfl:) . Not good for the diet or the bank balance but  .

    Have a great day everyone.

    Morning all,

Wow, a lot of great posts - really thought provoking - thanks to everyone for posting.

BB I now have one AFD under my belt but I still feel bad this morning - sore throat, cough, sinuses playing up. No matter, onward and upward I think.

Mollypolly and Fluffybishop, those weight losses are fantastic - well done. MP, is all that due to stopping drinking do you think?
I'm trying to drop a stone with variable success, I keep picking and tippling!

    Have a great day folks

    Morning all

Hope all goes well today - brand new sparkly day. Still stuffed with the cold but I have lemsips and they are my friend.

Need to work out why on earth I am not losing weight and infact seem to be gaining it like a mad gaining weight person.
BB - I will attempt to go to a yoga class tonight - I need to text my brother and ask him if I can go out and he can come babysit - depends on the writing :)

Used the special french soaps in the bathroom which kids always bring me home and sit ina bowl for posh which I always look at and never use. Why do I do this ? no idea - they look and smell so nice I reckon its nice they are just sitting there - well today the lemon verbena soap got a good splashing in the shower!! They bring soap home every holiday - I dont have french kids, just an ex husband who is exiled to france.

Excuse the mutterings - just thinking about the 'treat yourself nicer' bit that often gets neglected in my head. Anyone done anything nice for 'themselves today?'

AF last night - worked late when usually my head is soup and I am half asleep on the sofa :) waves to all
