That looks like a good quality dresser, cant believe they only wanted £25!“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

they wanted it rid of as they have just moved to a much smaller home and said they just had no room it was up for £25 or offers, but i felt £25 was more than worth it. it was put up for sale thursday but i wasn't able to view it until today. and they said they had loads view it over weekend but everyone turned it down. so i guess it was ment to be.0

I can't see what's so wrong with those brass hinges, they look perfectly fine to me. That's going to paint up lovely, you're so lucky0

Those are MDF letters I bought separately on Ebay. I cant remember the sellers name but there are lots. They come unfinished and you can paint them, I painted mine cream as they were on my fireplace and just turned them around now that theyre on the dresser.

Thanks so much, I can't believe they are MDF they look like wrought iron or something. Thanks again for the tip.
JCR16 - Have to say I agree with bitterandtwisted, I think the hinges are lovely and if anything, add a little something. I'm sure it'll be lovelywhatever you decide.

I know that, strictly speaking, this is on the wrong board - but I love this thread and would like to ask for your input
. (Please moderators - don't move me).
I live in an old stone cottage and have a tiny, L-shaped bathroom which we are hoping to do up. We are replacing the ugly modern suite with a white cottage style one (my sister has just moved and is ripping this one out of her new house :money:) and will buy old fashioned taps, etc. I have a number of pine accessories (shelf unit, toilet roll holder, etc) which could be painted. I have a concertina shower screen to go over the bath.
The main problem is that the bathroom gets quite damp (and mouldy) so OH wants to completely tile it
. How can I achieve a shabby chic/country cottage look with these sort of restrictions?
I have tried Google but just seem to find photos of massive bathrooms with space for chairs and side tables - I barely have room for a linen basket!!
I know all you avid shabby chic-ers are full of excellent ideas - so I'm relying on you to inspire me - Please help!!!!!!

was given these bookcases yesterday, they were destined for a skip and I couldn't let that happen (even though we're moving soon and I promised DH I'd leave getting furniture until after!)/ They have already had one coat of paint then the previous owner gave up, so I'll prob use that as undercoat and paint them again. Already pretty shabby chic though and an utter bargain as they were free! (Owners were millionaires moving to Australia...who my SIL nannied for)June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Frugalista, If the bathroom is all tiles it will just make things worse, tile round the bath/shower area and behind the sink to form a splash back. Tiles are cold and cause a lot of condensation. You need better ventilation and heat to solve the mould problem. Hope this helps."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0
