I liked the paper and the colours. Didn't manage to see it all so will try to catch it on iplayer. Did I see correctly though that she already had a nice wooden dresser on the left of the chimney breast? Why didn't she save some money and buy some more planks and get shelving made above it? She could have had nice deep shelves then.
I went to my neighbours yesterday to see her antique dresser. She said I would understand her drawer. Yup, she has a drawer for her linen. Sooo jealous! It's a huge dresser and the shelves on the top are wide enough to have large plates standing up (charger size) and full sized dinner plates sitting flat. It's lovely. I showed her my napkin rings (not the ones I found today), not matching, all ages. I love it when we sit down to tea because it's very eclectic. I think I may go one step further and start collecting linen napkins from charity shops. I don't mind if they don't match, I think it adds to the charm. My lovely MiL said she'd dig some out for me and look out in the charity shops too!

well, i dont know its what i would have done
however, if i was asked to decorate that room, it would have been the only thing i would have left in there (apart from the built in dresser)

the guy was so snobby about painted pine
fair enough, all entitled to opinions etc
but that table was a mess, it looked like it had been set on fire, the parts where the wax didnt colour were all uniform, on each plank

the chairs could have been nice, but they let a 3 year old loose with their paint box on them

perhaps i am just too critical, perhaps i just like things to flow too much
you can have a shabby chic room, where no two things are the same, but the room flows, that just didnt

    it jarred your eyes

I thought the table was an absolute mess and would rather have seen them look elsewhere for a decent table that could have been restored etc. I would have hated the holes in the planks. And how convenient was it to `find ` the cake stand and the chandelier! Hmmm

I didn't like the table either and I thought it was very expensive too. They could have picked one up much cheaper and painted it.

When they went to the antique place and just happened to stumble upon the cake stand I was thinking they'd find one much cheaper in a charity shop or car boot.

I understand their point that doing the room their way was cheaper than buying it new but it still cost about £1,500! I'm sure us MSE'ers could have done it for a couple of hundred and it would have looked nicer. :D

I liked the lampshade but would have just had the one, not three. The painted cupboard was nice, I think they should have painted the chair green or white, not red. I didnt like the table either, I have a rustic farmhouse table but I didnt like the one they did with white patches on it. I've found a glass cake stand at a car boot for £1 and cath kidston type plates from a charity shop for 20p each (its a great but tiny shop). Still, I thought it was interesting, shame its not shabby chic every week lol

I was nearly on this programme to have our dining room done!! However our kitchen refurb wasn't done in time to fit with the filming - think we'll do a better job ourselves ;)
