Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Hi all just wondered if you had any ideas as I wanted to finish this up today...:o
I have to admit mine is never that great but I think thin coats are the answer and sanding beore the final coat. I've found a roller gives a much better finish but obviously can't be used on all parts of the chair.

Thanks for replying :) needed the push to go bid on it hehe
the same seller has a nest of 3 tables ending tomorrow currently at 99p... so im gonna go for them too :-) really looking 4ward to starting them xx

I won the nest of 3 mahogany tables for the price of ... 99p :)
So it makes the £10 i spent on the drawers even more worthwhile!

Hopefully going to pick them up this afternoon after Hexham carboot.

Any tips on what type of sander to buy? is a palm one best for projects like this?

IIRC they were just dark wood so I'd go for easy sand which can be bought from B&Q and Homebase for about £7 and lasts for ages. It is much easier, quicker and less messy than sanding if all you want is to provide a surface suitable for painting.

Afternoon all, what a gorgeous day it is here. I am a bit miffed though because today is a NSD for me and I just realised that I dont have a brush to make a start on my nest of tables :( They are all sanded and ready to start painting so I will do them next week. I stole the idea from Kandipandi (I think) or Hart.

I the meantime I have done about 6 coats of spray paint on my ottoman and recovered the top. Its not quite finished but I am so chuffed with it so far I wanted to share. I am still needing to put a new tassle opener on and I thought that I would replace the tatty edging around the top and bottom of the ottoman with some shocking pink binding. Need to measure how much I need and go to the shop tomorrow for that.I am also wondering whether to paint the legs shocking pink? Would that be over the top do you think?

If the pictures dont work I am putting them on my homepage in a while. Wanted to add that it isnt perfect but it is my first attempt.

Very nice cherisong, love the fabric, it's really nice. :D I wouldn't go for the scary pink legs, personally.

Am I the only one who's been watching 'great british bake off' and wondering what kind of paint they've used on all the cooking stations?? They're such lovely colours - I think either farrow and ball or laura ashley but I could be wrong.

Also, I've got a dresser that needs painting. Do I use easy sand, primer and paint or just easy sand and paint?

    Thanks x

    hello all

I am always reading this thread, but I rarely post so I hope you don't mind me asking a question!

I want to spruce up my kitchen, including replacing the handles on my cupboard doors. I have quite a few so am wondering if I could buy plain pine knobs, and paint them, to look something not too dissimilar to these:

Does anyone have any tips, paint types, varnish etc?

    Thanks in advance :)

Thanks ladies, just wrote a long message and lost it all as pressed back button!

Anyway will sand chair and give that a go, also cherisong love the ottoman very pretty!

hairdye those handles on ebay are lovely - I am looking to get 4 anyway to spruce up a unit in the living room so those may well do the trick and I see she can make them to order with custom colours, brilliant.

Kitchen is nearly finished painting wise after 8 months of slow but sure progress painting the cupboards with Crown 'champagne' cupboard paint - here is my BEFORE pic of a wall unit that had some led glass effect doors:

I won the Laura Ashley wallpaper on ebay and still plan to change the little shelf pins for something nicer but for now they'll stay as I have no others.
Don't want to put the cupbpoard doors back now to see the wallpaper at all times!
