Can you borrow a vax, or B&Q hire cleaners out.
If it were me I'd have a go with a soft brush and something gentle and see how I got on but can understand you might not want to ruin it.

Hermum, big hugs. I try to think of my furry friends as going to rainbow bridge where they will wait play to their hearts content with all of their other furry friends. XX

I am loving all of the projects. I just managed to buy a lamp table this weekend from the local 2nd hand furniture place for £10. It is really sweet. Oak with little drawers. I will try to post a photo later. When I got it home I was having a good look at it, took out the drawers which are as clean as a whistle and found a label saying Priory. If I am not mistaken that is quite an expensive make. I did think of sanding it down and painting the bottom half cream, keeping the top in the lovely oak finish but when I have put it in the place I want it I think it looks nice as it is.

Hi bargainbird that unit looks so much better!

Vikki I know what you mean, same here. Finishing off chairs is my project - just need foam from Dunhelm Mill. Problem is the chair I started with has quite thick foam, which I had used thinner, so now I'll have do do them all that thickness... or get thinner then redo the thicker one later...

cherisong yes let's see piccies, that sounds like a lovely unit.

Also toying with the idea of chicken wire for kitchen units which I am now painting - danemi let me know how you get on?
Tonight the units will get a final cream coat, then Laura Ashley wall paper at the back (won on ebay) and will also put some on bottom of shelves (by MrEL as he's better with nitty gritty detail). Then have to decide if I put the doors back on - if I do, will they be with the nasty led piping glass, or nothing, or chicken wire....

Quick question - we got a lovely wooden side unit at a market, don't want to paint it, but do want to polish it as have some beeswax.
Do I literally use a cloth and wipe it down with beeswax, then polish?
Or should I use normal furniture polish?

Also any hints as to how I can find out what sort of wood it is? It's heavy (which I know means decent wood) and dark.

It also has a metal area, how can I best polish this - normal furniture polish?

Was a bargain £10 - must have cost £50 when new.

Not very interesting....I did try to put jellybean napkins (For my DD1 bedroom) on the top but they were too crinkly IYKWIM. So removed and painted.

    PS Really like the mirror:D

    I think that looks great

This is the little table I got yesterday 4920534543

I originally thought that I would sand it down, paint the legs and the drawers and keep the top in the wood with some good polish on it. Now I am not too sure, what does everybody think?
