Ooh bargainbird, that's got SO much potential!
Think the wardrobes will be Dimity (again) as I'm going for a duck egg and pale cream colour scheme. I can't do any of the walls until we've had the house rewired though, which is annoying.
Not feeling too good this morning, I seem to have lost my enthusiasm for anything and could do with a duvet day0 -

Bibity - Im sure with you magic touch you will make them look beautiful! How about cutting the inside of the door out (I hope this makes sense) so you are left with a frame, and lining it with chicken wire - you would be able to see how beautiful they are inside then! Although the insides of my wardrobes are a mess so i couldnt do this!
Bargainbird - I can imagine that looking amazing! Fantastic find
I havent been doing much Shabby chic-ing! I'm trying to finish DS1 bedroom theres no chic in there just lads stuff. Today i am going to sort a lego table from a lime green Ikea table which was free and some lego baseplatesHopefully stop myself from standing on lego bricks everyday! x

Bibbity, it sounds great how you're going to do the wardrobes. I think they'll look every bit as good as the LA one.
I can't find it now (it might have been from the beginning of the thread) but can you remember the link to someone's blog where they'd put strips of thin wood on a seventies sideboard and painted it up, and it looked fantastic.
Bargainbird, your cupboard looks good and there doesn't seem to be much preparation for painting.0 -
Bargainbird that cupboard is gorgeous, it will look fantastic.
Whatwas the ticking for Vicki, for some reason I thought it was to cover chairs (or maybe because that's what I was thinking of doing) but if you're sewing obviously not.0 -
Ticking is a really thick cottony typefabric, I think they used to use it for matresses, it usually has a fat stripe and thin stripe either side, which mine does.
Shirlgirl - half right! Seat pads and some sofa cushions and padded hearts maybe out of the spare. I also have some airforce blue upholstery corduroy coming to cover the pouffe cube.
I'm about half way through making the swags and tails for the big window, so I want to get that finished and put up before I start any more sewing projects though.
Bargainbabe, that cupboard looks like it will makeover really well.
Lolly, good idea for the lego table. I though that having a train table would help but no, playing on the floor is much more fun apparently!
I use a sponge roller for gloss and a fluffy one for emulsion on walls, I'd probably go for a sponge one with anything thick and gloopy like eggshell too.0 -
I am so tempted (after reading your makeovers) to paint a chair but can't seem to find ESP at a good price. From your experience where is the best/cheapest place to buy this primer please.
I persuased hubby to paint spare bedroom furniture a couple of years ago. The results are fantastic BUT he says "never again !". He did it the old fashioned way by rubbing down, priming and then several coats of egg shell paint.
Thanks ladies, x0
