danemi1; I think red and green together is a really nice combination. I have been gathering
fabric in reds/pinks/greens to make an applique cushion....eventually. Lets have a peek.
If you're after a lamp in H*mbase they have quite large cream lamps with lampshade for £12.49 which I thought was a very good price (so I got one haha) Hubs thought it was going to be too big but it fits fine (after all what does he know!)
Bless him! Bet he loves it doesnt he?
Ok I am hoping this works - gonna try and paste a piccy - two secs.

rightyo now I have the gorgeous corner dresser from Georgina I need to start sorting out what I am going to do with it - its stood looking very regal in the conservatory at the mo - dh has removed the glass - am now wondering if to sand plenty or if to get some esp and a light sand before painting - b & q dont sell the esp here in our town - has anyone used it - is it good - whats best way do you think - many thanks - all sorts of idea buzzing around my head - going to paint in dimity I think and maybe line inside with Cath Kidston and then Chicken Wire to replace the glass - or there again it may be totally different by completion0

Thanks Pooky....Not so easy to post furniture!!
Danemi1; I want those cushions!! I need those cushions! You have lined up all the square
perfectly and love the colour combinations and how sweet is that little doll.
Looking forward to seeing the newly re-furbished unit. How did you get the glass out?
(I cheat and use esp)0 -
have to be honest dh took the glass out and the end of this thumb - oops - he's ok just a little war wound and y'know what chaps are like about those things - lol
Thank you so much for your kind comments about the cushions - honest to goodness a month agao I could not sew anything and I mean anything - I was terrified of the sewing machine and then thought NO - enough is enough - what have you got to lose - if you look closely you would see that they are the work of a beginner but hey the camera is forgiving - lol!!!! it is silly the amount of pleasure they have given me now that I have finished them - got a bit het up part way through thinking I was gonna mess it up but hey ho ....so your kind comments are much appreciated
Anyway please please tell me more about what to do with esp - do I have to prepare the surface first - clean or sand or anything - then do I apply just one coat or what - and where do you get it from - really grateful for any and all replies - thanks0 -
Thanks for all your lovely comments. I'm loving how much more space we have and how bright it is now.
The dresser is painted in LA linen paint.
I'm interested in hearing more about the ESP. Sanding is most definitely not for me. I'm far to impatient and the feel of sandpaper makes me go a bit goosebumpy - bit like fingers on the blackboard IYKWIM. I've been using BIN which is an any surface shellac based primer but it is not nice to work with and I worry that it won't be as durable as I'd like.
Pennib - cute chickens!
Danemi - Love the cushions, the colours are really beautiful and it looks so neat too.0 -
daneml1; ohh ouch, cant stand injuries that involve blood, hope you got the plaster
and hot sweet tea out! Dont be so hard on yourself with your cushions, we are our own
worst critics! Ya can't stop now onwards with something else.
As for esp, the makes tend to have different instructions, some say leave for 5 mins
and others you wipe on and wipe off. I'm with you re the sandpaper and am very impatient as well. I have very rarely had any problems with esp. Homebase stock it and probably your local wallpaper/paint shop. Some you dont even have to clean the wood before hand as when you wipe of esp it takes dirt off as well. But as I say read the instructions and it will give you an idea.0 -
thanks hun - going to get some for sure - meanwhile have made a start on the doorstop
some one kindly posted a link on the sewing thread a few days ago

Vicki - let me know how you get on with esp too - cant get into town until mid week but feinitely going to give it a go - esp if no sanding is involved - know what you mean about fingers down a blackboard0
