The book I have says it needs to be silk to pass through the fabric as silk is very fine, but on some websites they sell kits which have synthetic ribbon. I just don't want to buy a load and find it doesn't work so am torn, unless I find some real silk cheap enough. At the prices I can find it it would be cheaper to just buy the LA one, but I want to make it myself. I'm a bit like that!0

Love the top one best. Why don't you just buy half metre of ordinary thin ribbon and see how you get on?0

That lamp looks great newmee, well done.
We've just put up the first bit of dado rail which is the bit that would show in a photo, so drum roll...
The dining room
before pic is the best I had
After
And a close up of the dresser, still with one knob missing!
I still have quite a lot of little bits to do but it's getting there.
Had a good boot sale today, 5 books some on decoratingy things, a vicyorian crafts book, aromatherapy so lots to try.
Also found a brand new composite sink in dark cream which will match my worktop a lot better than the "stainless" steel nightmare I currently have so I rushed home to measure up and managed to get back to buy it before it went. Paid £30 for it but thought that was brilliant as they are soooo expensive in the shops. Wonder how long it will take DH to get round to fitting it :rotfl:0 -

Many years ago I covered a set with Fablon and it worked fine but it depends on whether you would fancy any of the designs they do. Assuming Fablon still exists???
I also have some cotton/lace tablemats which are beautiful but not practical at all so I put the mats under them so not seen.0 -
