Hart you have inspired me I have one of these stuck behind my bedroom door which was an offcast from my lovely sister. Now, whilst the rest of my furniture is oak I have decided I am going to paint it white and line the inside with black and white floral wallpaper which is leftover from my bedroom. My question is, I have white satin paint, and the bookcase is melamine type stuff, do I need a special melamine primer or will a good sand down do?

Search on eBay for either fake cakes or the seller fabcakes09 or sweetdesign. She does the best ones. There's a few similar but she is the best.the 2user names are the same person. She does other stuff too

    Love the bookcase Hart :)

I don't think I could have those cakes in my kitchen, I would be eating cake everyday. :(

Those cakes are lush, I thought they were real. Hubs would be really fed up thinking he
could eat them. When I make swiss roll flannels I have to put them away as his mouth keeps watering and badgering me to make some real ones!!

Hart; Love what you've done to those shelves what a transformation.

Thank you everyone for the nice comments on my shelves :D
jackie, I have painted melamine stuff in the past and all I have done was to give it a good sanding then after a clean painted it with cheap white emusion then put a gloss paint of my colour choice on top and it has always turned out great (I was a single mum then so fancy paint was out of the question).
Wall paper samples are always free and I have been know to take the equivalent of a full roll in different pieces :rotfl: for projects in the past.

Love the cakes too, very pretty :D Im not a cake eater but give me a cheese scone and Im your best friend, even more so if they are homemade :rotfl:

Hart - Gorgeous shelves - what are you going to do to the magazine table?

I've been busy this morning....(pics on blog)....bookshelf cost a fiver about a year ago and I've been waiting to get round to "doing" it. Very pleased with the result.

I just love your bookshelf :D well done :T
Not sure what to do with the magazine table yet :o but I will strip the dark brown off and take it from there (weather permiting :)).

Love Hart 44 and Pooky's shelves - they both look so smart!
What sort of wax did you use, Pooky? Is it some sort of liquid brush on type or do you rub away with a bit of beeswax?
