Oh, Exeter has some great shops and the charity shops are pretty good too. I picked up a lovely Sanderson quilt cover set in a CS for a fiver! There's a great retro shop called Otto's.
Thanks, Otto's looks amazing! I think we're only going to be in Exeter for one day so don't want to be trailing around loads of charity shops (well I would but don't think OH would be too happy!) but would like to go to small independant quirky shops. We're going to be in Cornwall for about 4 days then Plymouth for 3 and are going to be wandering around a lot during this time so hoping to come across some little gems! Last time we went to Plymouth we went somewhere that was a little coastal town that had loads of vintagey shabby touritsy shops, think it was Looe but can't remember now :doh:D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0 -
Yes, Otto's is great. You can see their video inventory. I noticed that they had a few of those 50's kitchen cupboards.
When we went to Exeter, we were only down there for a couple of days and as we'd gone by train we weren't able to buy much so missed out on some great (large) items.I've told hubby that we should go down there again but take the car this time!

I'm just watching the videos now, OH used to live in Exeter and remembers Otto's, plus he said there's lots of shops like that so he's going to take me to see them all :j We don't drive and will be camping and doing all of our exploring by bus and train so won't be able to buy anything big or bulky either as we'll have to carry it around with us everyhereWill probably find some small decorative items and maybe some fabric stuff like tea towels or cushion covers etc though! Am determined to travel light with clothes and things so I have more space to go shopping! :rotfl:

Oh Gigervamp what a great shop :T
I wish there were some nice CS's around here, well there could be but driving into Derby scares the life out of me and I never seem to have time to go in the week (my OH has a fear of shopping :rotfl: typical man)Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

I live in Exeter about 10 mins walking distance from the centre.I love it here as I grew up in the sticks (fond childhood memories but v boring for a teenager!)Steptoe and sons in marsh barton is fantastic for vintage furniture but it is a bit like a car boot, there is tat and then there are real gems.V cheap but only takes cash.I got a folding sewing box from there a few weeks ago on legs for 3 pounds. They have shelves and chairs, display cabinets, tables, school desks, stools etc etc.

All you exeter people...my wedding ring came from exeter. I have some other loose stones that I want the same jeweller to make up into rings or me....but as its purely an indulgence and a very expensive one I'm going to have a long wait! But I love my wedding ring. Its very, very me.0
