OK, you're going to hate me, but when I saw those chairs, I saw them in a Vanessa Arbuthnot fabric.

anybody ?? please - which is better matt varnish or satin - or is it simply down to personal preference - looks wise - what do most folk use - cant say as I have paid that much attention before - sorry for jumping in - am just so keen to get them done - really exciting isnt it0

Yes that fabric is lovely but at £30 a metre it would cost me about £600 to recover the chairs . I think the OH would be less understanding. I love her chicken fabrics as i have 6 chickens of my own. I didn't get the fabric I'd love them to be in but I wanted an easy fabric. I didn't want to have to worry about stripes or whatever being wonky when I struggling to stretch the fabric. Maybe in a few years when I'm an old pro at doing this sort of thing.OK, you're going to hate me, but when I saw those chairs, I saw them in a Vanessa Arbuthnot fabric.

Ok, did you use a tester pot of Dimity or the proper size estate eggshell?
The reason I ask is that if you used the eggshell, then as far as I know you don't have to varnish it.0 -

Matt doesn't have a sheen, but satin does, so it depends on how you want it to look.
I prefer matt.0 -

That's why I said you wouldn't like what I said! :rotfl:
Her fabric is lovely, but far too expensive for the likes of us. :rotfl:
But, I can still see the chairs in her fabric!0
