Thanks everybody. I'm ok, just frustrated! The kind words are lovely though, and very appreciated, and I will enjoy vicariously Bibbity's move :)

Thanks lostinrates. To be honest a move seems so very distant due to the long process we've been through so far, but at least we are now a step further than we have been with the Halifax. This time tomorrow we should know the outcome of the survey, so hoping the figure they quote is enough to seal the deal.

In other news, I collected a cabinet off freecycle at the weekend. It was described as a 'glass and mirrored floral french style sideboard'. I was expecting loveliness along these lines

but it's more like this

I've painted the outside in Dimity, but there are brown plastic strips down the side which look pretty bleugh and I can't think of anything to do with them. Also, I was going to wallpaper the back but the shelves don't come out without taking the whole thing apart *sigh*

I'm wondering whether to just stick it back on freecycle, or whether to continue and see if I can make it nice. I've lost all enthusiasm with this one I'm afraid :(

Also, my Cath Kidston dollshouse didn't sell in the end so I'm giving up for now. If I watch CK furniture it always sells for a fortune, but when I try and sell something no-one's interested, typical!! :rotfl:

Tiff - that mirror is gorgeous :)

Lost in rates - sorry about the house hun, it must be frustrating for you  - Quick edit - Yay! just read your latest post!!

Does everyone follow the shabby chic look throughout their homes or is it limited to one or two rooms? What other 'looks' do people like?

Mine is mainly in the kitchen, with bits in DD's room and the hallway (or at least it will be when its decorated).

Well, I managed to take my head out of my own bum and stopped feeling sorry for myself for a while :D Finally gotten around to finishing my nest of tables - they were done in fabric to match my living room curtains but I had new glass cut for them and decided to change the paper.

Here's a before photo (can you tell I forgot by the primed ones in the background?! lol!). All three were like that.

And you can see the after here.

I also finished painting the pine plate rack that was on my blog and have used Cath Kidston paper on the sides - will take a photo when it's dry!

i love your nest of table's. i have never been over keen on nest of tables but seening them as made me see them in a new light. they are beautiful. i never fail to get amazed at how something ugly and would seem only fit for the tip can be transformed into something so beautiful and a new and wonderful addition to you home.
