i looked on craig and rose website and it said it had no ck paints availble. perhaps i'll phone them. will have a look in b&q, thankyou.

is the varnish also a ck make ?

    Still there for me? http://www.craigandrose.com/brands/cath_kidston/

Varnish I use is just B&Q brand. I use Farrow & Ball paints, absolutely love the consistency and finish of their eggshell.

To be honest I wouldn't waste the money on CK brand paint, just go for a store brand tester pot or two in a CK style shade.

I was just telling my husband about the shabby chic look and how much I like it. His reply?... "Why's it called shaggy sheep?!" :rotfl:

Oh and talking of cake stands; I have a Royal Albert "Old Country Roses" cake stand and when it's dismantled the bottom plate is the same size as my matching dinner plates. Well one day I was dishing up dinner and accidently used the cake stand plate for one of the meals. The gravy ran through the hole in the middle and made a right old mess!! :o:rotfl:

Tara, I believe that the seller makes those cake stands. I wanted a cake stand and had been belly aching at DH. I couldn't find an affordable one. Then I went to a charity shop and saw all of their plates and thought it would be a great idea to make your own. Just drill through the middle of your 3 plates with a tile cutting drill. So all I needed to find was where to get the cake stand fixtures from.
It took me a little while but I think that this was the site I saw? Not time to check now sorry, so I'll just link quickly >>>>>> http://www.chinapresentations.net/gbu0-catshow/cake-stand-fittings.html cheerio, Kaz.
What a good idea, you could make a perfect cake stand with your favourite plates.

I like the folding tea room cake stands, they make me feel all nostalgic, I could picture myself watching a nice black & white film like Brief Encounter with a cup of tea and the cake stand next to me. :o

Hi all, haven't been on this thread for a couple of days... so much chat to catch up on! I've spent the last half hour reading all the posts I've missed and looking at all your pics... ah it has done me the world of good! Your houses are all so lovely, you are such a creative lot. :D

Just do it anyway and try not to draw too much attention to it ha ha!!! :rotfl:

Claire Bear, snap!!! I don't really point out to my OH stuff I buy for the house, half the time he doesn't notice lol! :rotfl: I don't think he's that bothered, well I'm sure he thinks our house is turning a bit girlie but never mind. :)

GORGEOUS dresser! Who lives near Barnsley? Get bidding ladies!!!

I too have had a good day at the charity shops, I got the following:

'Audrey Hepburn: The Paramount Years' book, looks like an edition from the 1960s, stunning A4 size hardback cover and amazing pics inside. I love love love it!!! Only £2.99, I literally skipped out of the shop with it! It is now on display in my living room. ETA: just found a pic of the cover! Swoon.

Glass jar with stopper, hard to describe how lovely it is, I will have to post a pic. £2.

Beautiful oriental style peach coloured bowl, OMG it is stunning. Almost identical to this one. £1.

I also bought a Jasper Conran cardi for £3 and a lavender plant for £2, lovely :)

Urgh, not liking the paint fumes. I bought a lovely little plate rack at the car boot this morning and have managed two undercoats and an eggshell coat already. Think I need an afternoon nap!
