I have a fridge freezer to giveaway, we have someone lined up to collect it but i want to have a back-up in case he fails to turn up, it has to go this week. I have posted it on local classifieds board.

But...i'll post it on freecycle too, then the best sob story/mannerless email will get posted here.:T I wonder if i will get any replies from people needing to store their children in it?:rotfl:

Barely a 'wanted' on my local group today - I think the Mods have clamped down on it.
They've also posted a notice to discourage free[strike]loaders[/strike]cyclers from bagging stuff to sell on at carboot sales, Ebay etc. They don't disallow it as such, but ask anyone collecting stuff to sell on makes their plans clear. By the sound of it, some of the serial grabbers have been caught out :j :j :j

Wanted - I am looking for an Ikea bookcase in oak or birch veneer. It needs to be height 202cm, width 60cm, depth 28cm. It is to store some children's toys high up away from my toddler. We have the shorter version which fits
perfectly in the space, but a taller one would be fantastic.

Nothing too specific then? I'll bet IKEA have the one you want in stock...

I love all these i very rarely apply for anything off freecycle anymore after dh accused me of just getting tat for the sake of it!!! He was probably right!! I just like reading the messages. One was from 'steve' who had posted many many offered posts of various things all of them with the note 'recieved from fellow frecycler but no room to keep!!' do you think wife came home one day to find her house filled with junk and told him to get rid!!!! It seems to me that freecycle is a hoarders dream come true!!!
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.

just wanted to add a success story... from freecycle am the new owner of a set of 4 saucepans and a frying pan from a family who had moved from the US and had bought them to use for the 6wks while they were waiting for their container shipment to arrive. Our tesco saucepans (<1 yr old) has the non stick surface flaking off but I was reluctant to buy another set - we're getting married/buying first house soon and one of my aunties has said she'll buy us a set that would last us til our silver wedding anniversary!
Anyway went to pick them up as arranged and they are a really nice quality heavy set, I expect I'll be giving them away again on freecycle after our wedding!
Was a bit disappointed we haven't got our own house yet, this family had SO MUCH stuff on the list, all stuff that would not fit in their new british sized house!

    Shame they aren't in Clapham...
Offered - Tall IKEA bookshelf. 165cm tall, 60cm wide, 25cm deep, beech veneer finish, has 5 shelves.
Oh no, hang on, that doesn't QUITE meet their specifications, does it!

oh no. My group is advertising for mods. They want more details than my last job application form and an essay about what feecycle is and why you use it, how much time time you can devote to the cause etc...

I just hope it pays off and they get some mods who can read and know the rules. I'd offer but I can't be bothered to jump through their hoops!

I too yet again have had a non turner up i put on a nearly new hairdryer - gentleman (who has collected stuff before) wanted it and said will call in the hour - left it out on Sunday Morning and guess what it is still there - emailed then got told oh we lost track of time and could not make it - said can i call round now - needless to say he got no reply - i really dont know why people feel the need to muck you about - it seems to be getter far worse for me lately - plus a woman was picking up some small euro coins on sunday afternoon - guess what no show again - still waiting and still no email to apologise !!!!
Makes me pig sick - these unreliable people dont deserve the chance to have anything free if that is how they treat respectable people.
    Makes my blood boil !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
