We have the same problem on our local freecycle site -
there is a member who actively places WANTED ads every single day - even more than one a day - for everything he must have kitted out his whole flat twice over - a mod of our local group actually lives near me and i have helped her out on occasions delivering and collecting items - I mentioned this so call chappie who had requested the earth and she just said WELL HE REALLY MUST BE A GENUINE CASE WE DONT HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST PEOPLE WHO ARE REALLY DOWN ON THEIR LUCK AND CANNOT AFFORD THINGS.
I was flabbergasted - yes they may not have much money but to want and request everything free is beyond me.
Needless to say i started refusing to assist her anymore - i do regularly give and receive tiems on freecycle however i am quite choosy in who i give the items to.
    2010 - Goals

    1. on the long road to hopefully adopting a child - Home Visit 3 Feb 2010

    2. Planning to clear my credit card debt.

    3. lose weight.

    Go for it, Morty :D
But don't forget to add the bit about 'if you've got 'x' lying around' and 'I'll take it/them off your hands' :rotfl:

    Hi All

I have recently signed up to FREECYCLE as I was unaware of its existence before I joined this forum last week, so thanks for informing me firstly. The problem I am finding with it is that I am on the Glasgow Yahoo Freecycle Group Cafe after signing up but I cannot find anywhere on the GlasgowFreecycleCafe webpage. I wanted to offer some stuff that I never use as I saw on the forum it is good manners to offer something when you join a group but I could not find any links or places on the glasgowfreecyclecafe webpage where it allows me to offer or seek stuff. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong please. Also I thought I signed up to get emails of the new stuff being offered and wanted but I have not recieved any emails yet. It is possibly that the Glasgow group is small, I would be surprised if it is as its a relative large city.

Basically my main query is that I cant find the webpage where you offer or seek stuff and also I am a bit confused as I havent recieved any emails.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Conor

All items must be brand new?:rotfl:

Dont forget to emphasize the viewing only, i had one cheeky mare asking to view an offer the other week. Maybe put down that you will view only, then have a think about whether to take the items!

I'd prefer if someone is unsure if an items suitable for them they came to have a look first rather than collecting it then dumping it at a landfill site on the way home, which I have heard of happening before

With regards to naming/shaming who has collected what, the moderators can't see emails between members, we don't know who has collected what and when.
One day I might be more organised...........

The Cafe Group is different to the freecycle group - you need to join

    http://www.freecycle.org/group/UK/Scotland/Glasgow

and then you'll be able to offer or request.

Good luck and thanks for supporting Freecycle.

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

Well, I've just offered some stuff on Freecycle - first time in ages, as I've been having a break from the group. The Mods are now doing a great job, so I think it could be a lot better from now on.

I said that any 'I'll take them' or 'whats your number, I'll pick em up' emails will be trashed, that I won't respond to the first e-mail that arrives but will wait 24 hours til I decide who to give them to :D It'll be interesting to read the replies - just hope there aren't too many sob stories.

Morty - did you post that 'wanted' list ? :D
