I was in wilkinson the other day and they have them pull along basket things now, and there was this one little boy (about 3/4) with two of them, one hooped over his body so he was pushing it, and one he was holding to pull along.

It was full of his mums stuff and he was screaming and crying, and she was just ignoring him to talk to her friend.

I was only walking through but the little boy probably would of gone on to have a tantrum. It really annoyed me as even though it wasn't his fault, he was blocking up the whole aisle and she didn't do anything :\

I suffer with awful children next door too... They kicked a hole in the fence and I kept catching my daughter talking to them through it... Which would be fine if they were nice children... But when I go into my garden and the 6yo next door is calling my 5yo a b*tch... It is not at all acceptable! We've blocked the hole off, and are currently growing some Russian vine over that fence... Unfortunately it won't stop the voices coming over but it might put some distance between them... I also believe it's down to irresponsible parenting, they let all the local repribate teenagers hang around in their garden while their children play... They say nothing when their children are running round the front of the close kicking footballs at peoples cars and doors... How are these children ever going to know how to behave properly?
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Another bugbear is lately I've been using the bus more and it's often full so I've had to stand, along with others. I've got no problem with that but there's often a child sitting in a seat and not once has the mother told the child to stand up so that an adult can sit down. I thought there was a rule that children had to give up their seats for fare paying passengers? Even if there isn't such a rule it's just good manners!

No such rule. And I personally find that strange that you would think that. If the bus had to brake sharply the child standing would go flying. An adult has a better chance of keeping upright. It would mean that every parent would be suing the bus companies so they would just bring in a 'no standing rule'.

I do think that if possible the child should be moved into the parents lap.

I know that on a plane if a child doesnt have a ticket it doesnt get a seat.

My poor mum found that out when we went on holiday with my 2 baby brothers lol.

Luckily my stepdad was there to hold one of them :D

I know when I was a teenager there were signs on our buses that said anyone paying child fare had to stand for a full fare paying passenger. It's quite a while since I was a teenager so maybe things have changed now? :o I agree a young child should sit on it's parent's knee but I fail to see why it would be wrong to ask an 8 year old to stand so that an elderly passenger could sit down?

A child over 5 is a fare paying passenger.

From your first post it sounded like what you meant was that any child who did not pay a fare (ie under 5) should stand and let a fare paying passenger sit down. Hence I was shocked that someone would expect a 4 year old child to stand on a busy bus. Nor did you actually say an elderly passenger (who wouldn't be fare paying either, they have their card that allows free travel), you said adult. An adult would have a better chance of holding on and standing up than a child of say under 12.

Personally I don't expect anyone to give up a seat for anyone else, there are priority seats at the front and they should be given to elderly and disabled, but as for the rest of the seats, first come first get. If the buses are always full, go complain to the station, if you do it often enough more buses will be put on that route.

I would never expect an elderly or disabled person to have to stand on a full bus! If I had a seat - they'd have it - no matter how far back on the bus it was.

    I was talking about adults.

But as it is, there are no rules except for those seats marked. If those seats are full of elderly and disabled, then expect to stand or wait for another one.

I don't use buses for the simple reason that they are the route of all evil. All that stuff in the bible about the devil, it was a mistake. It was supposed to be buses.

I still wouldn't expect a child to stand either.

It seems like everytime I'm out shopping there's at least one child either screaming, demanding things off the parent or racing around as though they're in a playpark! I don't understand why some parents allow this? When mine were young (they're now an adult & teenager) they either sat in the trolley or walked alonside me in shops, I certainly wouldn't have tolerated behaviour like that.

I must confess when people let their little brats run riot round the supermarket I DO NOT slow down the trolley to get out of the little darlings way !!
I just wish I could attach spikes too!!!

I do agree about impolite children but it is seldom their fault. I would also like to point out that there are many rude and impolite adults in this world too. In fact I think I have met more of them than I have rude and impolite children.

    Agreed.

Often folk think it's just children who are rude, but their are alot of rude adults out there.

You just have to look at certain sections of this site, sadly.

I do put it down to them having their own individual life battle, but it can be annoying.
