The consensus seems to be ignore the letters. OK.

What I don't understand is this. Why don't these parking companies clamp the vehicles?

(I'm not saying they should or they shouldn't.)

Too much time/ effort / confrontation ..remember 70% + pay their fake tickets / invoices ..so why bother with clamping ?

Sounds understandable as long as 70% are paying them.
But I can see more of us getting wise to that, and not paying.
Then the wheelclamps might come out again, which then seems to give them the right to charge huge amounts?
I'm not sure but I don't think wheelclamps have been banned in England yet have they?

Despite the best efforts of this forum and several press articles and watchdog the majority fall for this scam.
if it looks like a "fine" then it is a "fine" and as such must be paid seems the logic..also the average man in the street seems terrified by "court" because they don't understand the difference between the criminal courts and the civil courts.

The clamping ban is coming ..already been through the Commons and to be debated by the Lords in the next session..as it is tied up in a Bill which deals with a lot of other issues like CCTV ,DNA etc etc it may take some time ..hopefully it will be a nice Xmas present for us all !
