    Ladies, I need some advice.

I have been reading back a few pages, skimming really, and see you were all talking about maternity leave. I want to take most of my time after baby is here and was planning to work up until the friday before baby is due. I think that is when I have to leave (so 18th with baby due 22nd Sept). Am I right in thinking that if it all gets a bit too hot/tiring/hard work that I can just get the Doctor to sign me off and ML starts from then?

Sorry if you have covered this but I couldn't see it anywhere.

Thanks for any help you can offer

    Harley xx

PS. welcome and congrats to the newbies xxx

    Hello fellow labour buddy :D

If u fall ill in the 4 weeks before your ML is due to start then ur employer can force you to start your ML then. WikiBEEdia or MrsT maybe along to correct me though :o

What a genius idea, in fact that is exactly what I will do!!!
I want as much time off as possible afterwards and am pretty dedicated to work (not had a day off sick except from operation recovery x2 in 4 years) but as I don't know what I'll feel like nearer the time your suggestion is an excellent one to cover all bases. :D:D:D

Thanks for the 'well dones' girls and GISI I am glad I have spurred you on.
I have some old mobiles to dig out and a PDA which I don't use so will look to sell them as well as all the stuff OH found the other night.
Just realised it will probably be another 6 months of saving due to the 90% SMP for first 6 weeks so I could do even better and the debt in my sig is too my Dad and he won't mind waiting if I get a bit behind will he?!!

Let's hope I do well at the races next week! Could afford to be off for a year :rotfl:

Got home and already put some washing on - ain't I good?!!

Welcome to the newbies - pop urselves on the list and pull up a chair!!

Where does the time go?

Lots of new ladies! Hello and congrats :T:D
Maternity leave...I don't know what date to start mine. My work is very physical and in a hot environment (hotel) so I doubt very much I'll be able to last up to the end. Told my boss I wanna stay working as long as possible, but when it gets to the point that Im becoming a burden on my colleagues I'll leave. But mmmnot sure about that now cos you have to give a fair bit of notice don't you? Oh it's all confusing isn't it.

jha, I believe it's quite commen to have a bleed when af is due... But might be worth giving your Dr a call tomorrow if you're worried...

Spoke to soon about my quiet baby... Hasn't stopped since, and now feels like it's going to burst out of my belly...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Midwife told me it is 11 weeks when I said I was hoping to work up until 34/35 weeks. She was warning me to be aware that work can make you take your mat leave if you get signed off sick in that time. As my job is fairly physical I guess it is a possibility for me.
