When I phoned TalkTalk to ask how to secure my network they just said that this was fine as I had Norton.
It seems that they think that Norton has significantly improved to cover a computer and now somehow moves itself into the equipment.... not that I would use Norton anyway.... :rolleyes:0 -
Have managed to set up my wireless connection with Talk Talk finally (after wasting alot of time trying to connect to the internet via the TalkTalk Connect icon on the desktop - doh!).
I now need to find out how do I go about securing my wireless connection? When I phoned TalkTalk to ask how to secure my network they just said that this was fine as I had Norton.
Is this correct, or is securing the wireless connection something different?
Hoping someone can help, please.

My son is complaining about the slowness and occasional buffering of the broadband. Have done a couple of things to try and rectify this (as suggested on the Talktalk forum).
Speed tests are usually around 3867 kbps download and 468 kbps upload.
Have got the router stats as,
Attenuation: 50.0/28.1
SNR Margin: 11.0/12.7
CRC: 30/2
HEC: 229/0
Not sure how to find out the Sync speed without plugging directly into the test socket on the master socket.
Can anyone advise what the maximum I am likely to be able to achieve is? I am fully aware that the 8mbs service is only UP TO 8mbs.
Thanks.0 -

Hi Emma
Yes, I am registered on the forum and have posted on there. I have been advised to alter the MTU from 1432 to 1400 and did some speed tests.
I recently phoned technical support and was told to delete my temp. internet files, alter MTU to 1432 and do speed tests for 48 hours but am still getting buffering.
Am thinking of ringing technical support again later. Any advice appreciated.0 -
AOL UK were bought by Talk Talk some time ago by Talk Talk - I had to pay BT for line rental but I have paperless trading which reduces the price. I would have preferred to pay AOL.
I got a free router from AOL and pay them £6.99 per month for broadband. We are low phone users which means our telephone bills are about £3 month with Primus.0 -
Hi ih8stress,
My advise would be to keep going on the forums and let us know what problems you are experiencing on there rather than calling tech support. The broadband guys on there will be able to help out. If you want to PM me your user name for the TT forums I'll let the broadband guys know your still having problems.
Cheers

Thanks Emma, have sent you a PM, please let me know (on here as I don't think I can receive a PM from you as it wouldn't let me set it up?) if you don't receive this.0
