anyone know what a BF85A form is?? My friend who is currently claiming IB, received a letter this morning saying she hadn't filled this reveiw form in what had been sent to her.
She has never received this form. She filled in a IB50 in Nov 05, and received a letter a while later saying she didn't need a medical, and her next review would be July 07. So she is a bit concerned by this new letter. Checked on the net, and nothing seems to be coming up for the BF85A form. Any ideas0 -
i am sure it is what the dhss doctor sends to your gp doctor0

Hiya,
The only thing that I found for that form on the internet was at http://web.ukonline.co.uk/ddlg.uk/qa1-45.htm where there are questions and answers.
Someone asked:QUESTION
I have been clamining long term incapacity benefit and recently received form BF85A it should have included notes from form IB40 but apparently it is out of stock. I have never heard of form IB40 and can find no reference to it on the DWP site. I am reluctant to fill in form BF85A without knowing what the guidance notes from IB40 contain. Can you help?
ANSWER
we would advise that you just complete the form to the best of your ability. We are surprised to hear that the DWP say that the guidance notes are 'out of stock', especially, as you say, there are no links to such notes on the internet. Perhaps, if a reader has a copy of these notes, they could scan them and either send them to us, where we could make them available for viewing, or place them on a web site of their own. As such material is 'Crown Copyright', we can see no problems, as long as the notes are in their original context.
I would advise you to go to your local Citizens Advice and get them to help fill it in - its always best to get professional help to fill these forms in or people who know what they are doing when they are doing them alot if you know what I mean!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
Yeah I found that website too, didn't think it gave any info on what the form is.
My friend has never received this form, so she can't go to cab to get any help to fill it in. She has no idea what it is anyway.0 -
As the decision regarding her IB was so recent I really wouln't worry about completing and returning this form.
The absence of any other queries relating to it on the net indicates it's probably simply a formality confirming your entitlement or where/how the money is to be paid.
If you really want to get a second opinion then try Welfare Rights Net where you'll get a reply from a practising WRA.
However I've always found ringing my local IB office and speaking directly to IB dept produces a helpful response. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

Yes she is going to do that on Monday.
I just think she wondered what this form entailed, and why they sent her a reminder, when she never received the form in the first place. + It does seem bizarre that there is no mention anywhere on the net.
Also, why do they check on your entitlement?? Surely they know who's claiming what?0 -

i have a medical on weds!i'm taking my (reluctant) husband because luckily my stepdaughter can babysit.
I'm scared.I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.I take citalopram, gabapentin, voltarol and solpadol so am a bit dopey especially in the mornings. My appt is 9.05 and i have to go 15 mins before.
I use a stick but prefer my wooden one to the social services one or 1 crutch.Ihavent seen a consultant for 2 yrs+,just given a rheumatology helpline number to phone if problems but nothing he can do for me otherwise.
I asked gp to go to pain clinic but told policy to try amitryptiline and gabapentin first via gp.
will this lack of hospital contact go against me?
I'm getting really worried. Some days the only relief is bed, three duvets and 6 hot water bottles.but thats not prescription and noone believes sick people anymore.Every day above ground is a good one0 -
I also suffer from CFS. At least your hubbie is going with you - even if it is reluctantly! Just answer all the questions truthfully for your condition and you will be fine! Ive been there and know what it feels like, me being me had never been there and never took anyone with me though and wish I had at the time though but hey I know now!
